I'm just trying to stir up shit since that Tejas man uses garlic in his rub
If I remember right he basically just uses a SPG type rub with salt, pepper, and garlic and that's it.

Dad wants me to smoke a tri tip him and my mom got at Costco. Thing is already like pre-seasoned though which I am not thrilled with. Means I don't know what's on it and you lose a bunch to the damn plastic wrap when you pull it out of the package.

@Falsedawn is Salt Lick the real deal or considered a tourist trap? Stopped there a couple of years ago while visiting San Antonio. It was good but my wife especially liked their signature sauce.... now you got me wondering...

I've posted it before, but the full set of videos is a goldmine from Aaron Franklin. He could charge thousands of dollars for a seminar on brisket and people would pay it. In fact he does for his master class.

The only thing I am not a fan of with Texas style brisket is how they slice the whole packer brisket together so some slices are way fucking bigger than others.

Homie obviously knows good food based on how he's built but I hate keeping the muscle groups together but that's a personal preference on how to serve it more than how to cook it.

Well its free meat so at least you wouldn't be wasting money on possibly subpar tri tip

One of the YouTube comments called him the love child of Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville. Can't unsee it.

Imma keep this name in my brain and look him up next time I feel like smoking something other than pot

Sounds like you went to the one in Driftwood. Absolutely legit. No doubt about it. The Round Rock and Austin locations...closer to Rudy's. Ugh.

Though you were a stones throw away from Lockhart, which is a shame because between Kreuz, Smitty's, and Black's, you could have died from meat poisoning.

How are SCADA and Josh?

Franklin is top tier. Pretty sure he has lines out the door for brisket starting at like 830 PM and he I am pretty sure still does everything on an industrial offset smoker.

Agreed on free meat. It's from Costco so the quality of the meat is probably pretty damn good, the seasonings are the only part that I am curious about.

I've debated getting that Gunpowder seasoning from Grill Your Ass Off as it's all Salt, pepper... but then activated charcoal which seems... weird.

SCADA has been AWOL for a long time, haven't talked to him in months
Jersh is doing well
Aubie is the same
Yeti literally lost his girlfriend while homeless on the streets, took him a week to find her but then they split. He seemed to take it well.
Tardbud is still awesome

If its the one I am thinking of from Costco I have had it before and it was good, just nothing amazing as far as the seasoning is concerned

Here's a pic of dad.

Re-reading the Lounge thread with the writing competition.... it's so perfect because it's completely organic. The best troll in the world couldn't come up with that.

"Do you want to have a writing competition?"
