I have stomach acid in my throat but am gleefully enjoying His Dark Materials Season 2. Cast to perfection with maybe one exception, it's almost hitting every note from the book - but the few misses are sadly the ones that casual viewers will likely be attuned to. Just reading the synopsis, it's hard to tell if it's a dystopian thing or more of a contemporary criticism. Sounds clever.

I struggled getting through my textbook of networking basics, and barely remember a thing. That cert you're working on seems pretty tough.

I've done it before, but it's redone regularly obviously, because of the frequent changes. Used to be CCNP Switch and CCNP Route. Really it's already behind the times (despite this being the first year it's offered), because it barely touches on SDN and NaaS.
Just the way it is with tech jobs, most of them require you to keep abreast of the changes (including the legislative environment), and there's only a few exceptions (like COBOL programming) where there's any advantage in sticking with old platforms and techniques.
Of course Cisco benefits massively from making sure the most recognised certification and training specifically teaches the use of their hardware and ecosystem.
