Yeah, I think it would be a big ask for DC, but I still think it's the biggest fight Jones could make at the moment. Secondary would be a rematch with Gustaffson, and perhaps a new challenger like Reyes if he keeps rising through the ranks.

Yea, I think DC really should consider the best revenge in taking some of Jones career holding the LHW and then winning the HW one as well as stealing the Lesnar big money fight. He may never beat Jones but he did just about everything else to get at him.

I was unaware that Sherdog had "private subforums". The Sherdog rules do not mention it, and I could not have known that Fawlty's post containing Fawlty's selfie was "private info". It looked exactly like a normal post of Fawlty's. Surely normal posts are "public info"?

The rule on posting PM contents has been in place longer than you've been here. Trolls trying to get people to post PM info to get them banned has been around just as long.
In terms of the platinum subforum, like I said, ignorance is no excuse. You posted the contents of a PM (containing a picture of a poster), it's on you to make sure it was public.

On a more personal note, I know firsthand what a losing proposition it is to get involved in trying to embarrass or get back at people with private information. I got involved in it a couple of times and was banned and left here for a time. Some of the current staff were involved in that stuff as well. We all got burned out on that nonsense. Nobody comes out of that happy and people get banned, and it's always a shit situation, no matter how good you "get" the person. It spills over into people's real lives too.

If this deters you from continuing down that road, and teaches you to avoid mixing it up with the people like the person who saved my picture from the Plat forum years ago and sent it to you, so you could post it (and I am fairly sure I know who it was), then all the better.

I wasn't at all confident that Jones' legacy would surpass Anderson's at that point. The only meaningful fight for him in terms of legacy was a prime Ryan Bader, which isn't worth all that much. The way he won did tell me that he was a special fighter. But not any more than, say, Max Holloway's destruction of Cub Swanson.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Jones was the best prospect we'd seen in MMA at that time, but until the Shogun fight, we didn't really know for sure how good he was. And, as you say, it took some time before we really erased all doubts and confirmed that he was unquestionably the greatest fighter in MMA history. But he didn't actually improve between the Bader and Shogun fights.

I don't get too hung up on p4p. Just using it to illustrate that we're talking about a guy who is kind of beyond just the best fighter in his division and maybe the best in any division. I was always somewhat skeptical of DJ, BTW.

IMO, current LW is much better than Alves/Fitch/Kos-era WW.

I agree that LW is stronger than WW then, heck I'd say its stronger than WW now too. If Khabib can break the LW record for title defenses(3) then I'd say he'd be approaching GOAT status. Don't want to jinx it though, last guy to defend the LW belt more than once was Benson and honestly he barely did so given half his wins as champ were close split decisions and Tony is a mountain of a challenge.

With DJ, I was always skeptical of his claim to p4p #1 because I felt FLW was just too weak a division. Definitely top 5 though.

I think he owes a lot to Cormier in terms of how long his legacy may last. It's probably going to be a while, if ever that a LHW will get to say they beat a guy who was undefeated a HW like Cormier. There always were the calls for Jones to move up but Cormier kinda makes that less important now imo.

During the height of his title run I always believed Jones was the single best fighter including the HWs and I say that as a hater who would've rooted against him if he did try for the HW strap. Would've favored him against any of the HW champs during his reign and I don't see why anyone else wouldn't have other than wishful thinking(which didn't stop me from favoring him).

Yeah, Sotiropoulos came across as an adult in a house of kids, and snarky about it.
Ferguson was standoffish until he got a bit of grog in him, then became a complete arsehole.
He was loudly booed at the finale because of it from memory.
Skills wise they both looked good. Ferguson a lot better obviously.

I remember being on the Sotiropoulos hype train mainly for being one of the first guys I saw pull off the rubber guard in the UFC and more generally for being a guy with a BJJ base. Crazy how hard he fell off after a 7 fight win streak at LW. Shows how the tough the division can be.

He's done two things that everyone wanted Jones to do in beating Anderson and taking the HW title. Beating Brock would be the icing on the cake.
