Saw an interesting bit on the decline of poll data today, basically blaming the fact that response rates have reached such a low percentage that even a slight bias in the response rates of different groups can have a large impact on the data.
Response rates now being just over 1%, compared to 80-90% response rates historically.

Polls only get people who really really really want to answer poll question. Anyone else they call they get hung up on quick at best, or a fuck off delete my number bitch at worst

Yeah, and they have to try and allow for the biases in their sampling distribution to make corrections to represent the greater population. Seems like now with such low response rates, the corrections are often louder than the signal.
Of course the guy on the right is a comedian, so I wasn't entirely sure he wasn't just setting the interviewee up to say it's hard to estimate the number of Republicans, because there aren't any that are unusually nice, educated and with high levels of civic and social engagement, therefore none of them answer surveys.

Tolkien has a lot of room for improvement. 1) Get rid of all the dumb dynasty stuff. It's not real so nobody cares who some elf's great grandfather was. 2) Less talking. 3) Give us more insight in orc culture. 4) Gandalf needs to hate Hobbits and only take them on an adventure reluctantly because they're tiny thieves and they're useful.
