These situations remind of a quote I read recently about how persecution by an establishment isn't enough to make you Galileo - you also have to be right.
My favorite along those lines is from Bedazzled (great movie with Dudley Moore that was never remade).

Back in HS I ran for Class President mostly as a joke but the student council took them selves a bit too seriously imo.

Instead of a debate we had townhall style Q&A assembly and one of the kids on student council asked me how I responded to accusations that I was just a trouble maker.

I responded with "Maybe I am a trouble maker. But let me tell you the names of some other trouble makers, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr and Ghandi! So when you think of trouble makers make sure you think of POLISHHEADLOCK2!!"

I got a standing ovation but lost the election in a runoff.

You better get interested. Because you going in there.
It's so rough.

I never ran for student government. Someone asked me to once and I was like "nah..."

It's not gambling when you're always up on the probability. 4

Thats how I’ve felt with my beginnings into gambling. Have made my 1500 investment all back, pulled another 1500 profit out back to checking account, and have about 1k in various accounts I play with trying to get up $500 to pull that 500 out as profit

Made a lot of that first 1500 back by taking advantage of signup offers and had a good early run before being in the weekly ups and downs now

But that’s how I feel. I’ve got this. I’m clearly smarter than Vegas on the odds

And then somehow Tampa Bay who barely beat the Bears blows the fuck out of Green Bay after a bye with Adam’s back and I’m scratching my head as to how I just lost what I thought was for sure easy money that I now have to make back on more 60/40 bets or +400 events that I think should be +200

Khabib posted something about France and how Macron would be judged for something he said or did in response to the woman getting beheaded recently and the cartoonists drawing Mohammad.

People condemning him for calling for violence. Others ranting about the West invading Iraq to enslave their people and how Pakistan somehow isn't a shithole cause the countryside is pretty and they have low alcoholism rates....

So, your usual Islam topic thread in the WR.

The part that surprises me is the people surprised that Khabib thinks that way or would post that. Pretty sure the region he is from is SUPER conservative and a bit, well, behind on modernization and not just from the social norms standpoint.

To be fair I SORTA get it as didn't the Hollywood bank shootout happen while Reagan was president or shortly before? Plus, Regan himself got shot.

I think that was the 90s...

But yeah I agree with banning assault weapons like that. Gun Control isn't a big issue for me overall but when I see crazy shit like that or Vegas I do wonder why we allow people to own certain types of guns.

I also don't want to militarize the police but when you see that Cali bank robbery you also don't want the police to be outgunned by 2 psychos

The thing is, without the Hughes Amendment the bump stock used in Vegas likely never gets developed.

In Elementary school I ran for office treasurer. I made some speech about how I'd be great at the position and would benefit the school. The person I ran against promised pizza for lunch everyday. I lost, badly.

I sadly am and it's... it's fucking dumb.

One side saying "they aren't surprised" given what Khabib did after the McGregor fight... ignoring how Danis said he'd rape Khabib's wife to show her a good time. And then it's devolved into ranting back and forth about alcoholism numbers in primary Muslim countries and how that makes objective shitholes like Pakistan... not... shitholes.....

I thought I was keeping it pretty civil but I'm not really reading it and goin back and fourth with just that one guy

It's like steroids, the juicers are always ahead of the testers, I get it. And like I said gun control isn't a big thing for me but I still think people that are gung ho about full autos being legal aren't exactly being reasonable. Heavy restrictions might lead to a bump stock but the Cali shooting also helped lead to the militarization of American police departments.

Pretty sure my election was rigged.

My best buddy Matt forged over a hundred ballots alone for me and I still lost? Bullshit

That thing I talked about with suburban voters driving a victory in Texas? Austin (Travis county) is the dark blue in the center of the 2018 Senate election map. Check where turnout is the highest...clustered around Travis County.

If Democrats are driving that turnout, especially in counties not Travis, Williamson, and Hays, Trump is in deep deep shit.

That shouldn't worry just Trump but the entire GOP. If Texas becomes a regular in-play state for the Democrats, Republicans have an almost insurmountable task in gaining control of the White House. When that happens, I imagine we'll finally be able to have a more honest discussion about the Electoral College.

I think full autos are dumb, they're a waste of money to go shoot cause of how fast you tear through the ammunition.

DOESN'T mean I wouldn't want to own like a BAR for shits'n'giggles if I could lol.

Some of us are, most of that thread is ass.
