You been to New Orleans? Or Louisiana in general? Cajun food will change ya life...

This is what Americans always say. I have to go to [place] because the food there is [superlative]. And I've looked them up a few times now. Most of the time the food is good. But to hear Americans talk about it, it's supposed to be this spiritual experience. As if people from the rest of the world haven't had like...meat on a bun before or some shit.

Lol. You sound salty. I love international travel and there is great food from all over. I'm from Louisiana so I do have a bias of course. If you ever get over here then give it a shot. America was built by immigrants so most "American Food" is from somewhere else. If you are talking to Americans who have never traveled abroad your statements make sense. But yeah, Cajun food is unique here and my home town cuisine.

Where are you from brotha?

Cajun food probably stands the best chance of winning me over, because it is an actual homegrown cuisine, like BBQ, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. It's an actual food culture that is connected to a people and a history (the Acadiens).

But like...New Yorkers who wont shut up about pizza? Nah bro, fuck that.

I live in Houston now and married a mexican. You come to H-town and I will give you some home cooked Mexican food that is solid af.

I guess you haven’t had authentic Hawaiian food.
<{smellit?}>

edit: I do love Cajun and bbq as well, though. I’d also add Tex-Mex and I’m sure there’s some other good regional cuisines.

The BBQ joint I went to was actually in Houston. Had the brisket sammy. It was tremendous.
Imo there's nothing in the world quite like a really good pulled pork sandwich with a big ol glass of sweet tea

But I like trying new things when I travel. I have had Duck head bill and all, stinky tofu, duck tongue and chicken feet in Taiwan, horse meat, raw shrimp, whale, and whole fish guts and all in Japan, raw ground beef with raw egg on top in Paris, fried worms, crickets and larvae in Mexico and the list goes on. If you don't try it then you never know. Some of the best Steak I've had was in Japan, South Africa and Argentina. African game in SA was outstanding. Germany also had some nice steaks. In Dominican Republic we passed a guy cutting up a whole pig he roasted and some of the best pork you've ever had. DR also had some of the best whole fish I've ever eaten. Small roadside eatery for rice beans and eggs in Nicaragua was phenomenal. People who say their country only has good food have never really traveled imo.

I don't remember exatly, but just looking on the map and from the pictures, it seems like it was Triple J's.
Houston has a lot of good bbq restaurants. Dont even know that place but will look it up. Thanks.

Us Native Americans have some damn tasty food, too, but nobody out there knows about it.
Literally the absolute best salmon on planet Earth gets cooked by old Native people here in the PNW, for example. Bison tongue? Mmmmm mm. Or the all time GOAT, fry bread with wojapi.

I'm not sure I consider it "American" though. I give that one just to Hawaiians.
I agree to an extent, but it’s a melting pot now. There are influences from all over Asia, Oceania and America in Hawaiian food by now.

Yes, my favorites are the traditional Hawaiian food, like lomi salmon, poke, kalua pig and laulau, but there’s also the whole mixed plate food culture that incorporates so much more. And we should include it in Hawaiian food as Hawaii is so multicultural now.

edit: shit even lomi salmon has European influence, the tomatoes came from Europe lmao
