There are also other factors worth mentioning, such as liberals' preoccupation with continuity or their desire to engage in hero worship. I'm not saying that RBG factored into her decision the nerdy cult of personality that she developed, but it was nevertheless silly. She wasn't the most progressive or the most influential jurist on the liberal court. In fact, of the four liberal justices, you could easily make the argument that she was the least important for progressive jurisprudence.
