WAR ROOM LOUNGE V16: Enjambment

Is shortening the accepted word rational? There's examples of that being upsetting to some (eg. Jewish & Japanese people). Shaving syllables is common in speech. How about calling a man by where's he's from? Seems rational to me, yet I've been told Chinese are sensitive to it. Or have I misunderstood?

I really don't understand what caused that.

Historical context matters. Jap is offensive because it was historically used as a slur. Same with Paki for Pakistanis in the UK. Brit? Not so much.

Hey @Lead, does off topic posting in a thread really count as derailing if the on topic discussion has more or less fizzled out and its only the off topic discussion keeping the thread alive?

I'll interpret this to mean I misunderstood and that I shouldn't expect you to clarify. Hope it wasn't important. :(

Sure. But it's the same process. Not to many three-syllable slurs come to mind. I'm at a loss after 'Murican.

Nah, there shouldn't be a way to justify a derail. That just would encourage pile ons of posters who don't like a thread to come in and steer it off together which has been done before. If you see a comment in said thread that off topic but you want to reply to, just quote it and reply in here.

Allow me to answer from personal experience. There is so much room for discretion that if the mods like you, you'll be fine. If they don't, you're fucked.

It often times has little to do with following rules

I did forget to mention the women but I thought that was implict in saying we are the capital of Latin America

Now I'm confused

You said this.

Usually I wouldn't have expected rationality from how a slur is produced.

I ended my comment (as to what I thought you meant) with this.

Or have I misunderstood?

You indicated to me that I did indeed misunderstand when you said this.

I really don't understand what caused that.

In an effort to prod you to then say what it was you actually meant, I said this.

I'll interpret this to mean I misunderstood and that I shouldn't expect you to clarify. Hope it wasn't important. :(

And here we are. Much to my own befuddlement.:D

EDIT: I could be misinterpreting your comment that I took to suggest I was misunderstanding.

I may be salty about what I said, but I'm not wrong.

How many times have you idiots brought up the "P" word to never be punished? You get convenient little warnings, while I get dubbed.

If it weren't against the rules I'd post a pm from a mod explaining how tough it is to mod such things and its largely discretion.

I repeat:

And I'll throw in a...

at no extra charge.

But I'm talking about in cases where the thread would otherwise just fizzle out. And ideally the off topic posting would be at least somewhat related to the original OP. So a thread on a crime committed by an illegal alien in the US veering off into discussions on the Mexican cartel or something like that after the initial discussion dies out.

I figure any differential in modding stems from differentials in reporting. Certain posters are going to be quicker to hit the report button than others. I don't think I've ever reported anyone for instance(@Lead, do you mods have access to that info? If so have I reported anyone) but some other posters seem proud of their readiness to do so.

Lmao... as salty as you when you tried to back out of our bet? This coming after I had already given you a chance at mercy and you refused?
I have the exact same bet with 2 other posters here. I wanted out of the bet with you because I have less than no respect for you as a poster, and as a person. If it was up to me, you'd be IP banned from Sherdog.

The last time I was on dubs (just got off a day ago) I was punished for replying to a topic mods have rendered off limits. The other poster was not ignorant to this being the case.

I got dubs and the other poster received nothing. Even after I brought up the obvious inconsistency, nothing was done.

I'm always curious about this kind of stuff, if you don't mind can you PM me the posts in question or at least a more in depth explanation?

Then let's do a gentleman version. Let's up the stakes. Ill put my account on the line for a year of your av. You have a chance to get rid of me.

I realize the mods are not going to sanction this or make sure i actually do what is promised so I will give my account password to @Farmer Br0wn (somebody I find trustworthy) if you agree and he can be the arbiter.

What says you homer? Sack the fuck up and quit acting like a high school bitch
