War Room Lounge v152: Putting your back out for a few days just from bending over. Good times.

70,000 homes (25% children) and millions who haven't paid rent since April.

Sounds like the perfect time for a new shopping mall in Hollywood.

All that tax money CA collects has to go someplace.

Getting old is essentially having to do a bunch of stuff you've already done before, but with back pain.

happened to me around 43 yo. Series of nasty pulls rendering me nearly unable to walk for a while. Resulted mainly from lack of use back muscles in my 30s. But it really only takes one year of not exercising back muscles to make them especially susceptible to injury. Sibling had same issue. Went to doc to try to go on disability. Doc said muscles are weak, strengthen them and you'll be fine. Said sibling is not taking docs advise. Guess they really want to go on disability LOL.

For me I corrected the problem and have since made nearly a full recovery. Simply by doing a regiment of lower back strengthening exercises and stretching every day. But very careful, mostly light stretching in the early going. Been doing that for about 3 years now. Another huge benefit has been losing about 50 lbs.

CA doesn't collect a lot of tax money, and isn't that a private project? It would be good if the state incentivized adding apartments there rather than office space, though.

I feel like being an ass.

EDIT:
I'm also trying to insinuate graft is at play. You can't tell me a massive project like that didn't have some palm greasing done in order to get help with funding/permits pushed through.

It’s sounds like the investors are paying for it.

I can see it now ...

Ok, @Lead it's also going to be his fault. How often do you think Captain Pedantic would like to use this gif?

@AnGrYcRoW please see my post immediately above for an explanation. It's only a hypothetical.

That reminds me. What the fuck ever happened to spin? Did he get banned? Can't tag him.

A question, anyone here have experience buying a house from a home building company? You know, folks that have like neighborhoods where they built every house in it but you can choose from like 3-4 floor plans to have them build.

Is there ever an ability to talk them down on price? I found a great house made by Toll Brothers my folks would love but it's about 75k more than they want to pay and about 50k more than what the max they are willing to pay is and am wondering if there's a chance to talk the folks down at all.
Just ask them if they're interested in talking to a serious buyer at your price. What is the worst thing they could do?

Holy shit, I un-ignored the posts in my Communist/Trump/Biden thread and the responses were even dumber than I expected.

Here are the highlights of what Nostradumbass said, in a tour de force of bad logic:

  • You can't say Trump is more anti-press than Biden on the basis of his anti-press policies and rhetoric because, even though half of Americans voted for Trump, 95% of media coverage about him is negative, and what communist regime would allow that? (so, here, we have the implication that the media is acting maliciously and also that the limitations placed on Trump's ability to take reprisal are actually where Trump's actions would end anyways)
  • You can't say Trump is more anti-press when Biden was VP during Obama's surveillance on journalists
  • You can't say Trump is more anti-free speech based on his anti-free speech polices and rhetoric because conservatives are way more likely than liberals to say they feel like they can't share their opinions
  • You can't say Trump is more anti-democratic for trying to suppress votes, obstruct mail-in ballots, allege voter fraud, and delay the election because Joe Biden doesn't want to debate and is pushing for mail-in voting which "has a higher margin of error" (wtf?) than the spread of the results.

And this comically incoherent and off-point nonsense got likes from Inga and @Cubo de Sangre, the former of whom is just a shameless hack and the latter of whom seems to have become more reactionary since his vacation, unfortunately.

Yes, though Toll Brothers is notoriously difficult to talk down (they have fantastic homes and they know it). We negotiated our current house down, and it’s a track house/neighborhood home through Shea.
We had an agent, though, which helped a lot. I’d recommend going that route, but if not, as ACap suggested, you can always just make an offer.

Grand re-opening, grand re-closing
Goddang your man Gov' shut the can closed again
