Tbh, the timeline on the filibuster with democratic figures seems a little more blurry after posting that thread. Obama has voiced his dislike for it in the past so maybe that speech wasn’t that telling. Additionally, Bernie has appeared more open to it than I previously recalled (I was mixed up his court packing stance). The point just was that the primary was showing a huge shift on that topic with the party and even with Biden getting the bid (who was against it), it looks like they may still go that direction. To me, that’s a very very big story when it comes to the future impact of legislation but on the other hand, it wasn’t an antidotal racially charged local crime so it must not be that important.

Aside from the bitching though, the front page yesterday was better than past weeks or months. Quite a few people putting up a range of topics that at least were interesting to browse through even if I didn’t necessarily have a post for it. It would be nice if we could get people to commit to a thread a month or some possible rotation. It’s possible some will die quick but the collective effort would be good for the place from what it looked like yesterday.
The quality has sadly diminished considerably today.

If anyone has Bitcoin it's been doing some exciting things. My portfolio has gone from $540 to $699 this month.

Which city could I get away not knowing French? I want to become as fluent as possible while I'm there of course.

I just read there's a small Kurdish population in Montreal and they have pro Rojava protests which is badass.

McGill University looks amazing and their history courses look fucking awesome.

They're a bit pricey at $13,000(US) a year for Americans. But it says it's one of the best universities in Canada? And apparently it's one of the colleges you can get student loans for as an American.

YO I just looked and Portland State University is like $27,000 a year for tuition alone for out of state residents. Literally what the fuck. It's a public college.

Going to a fancy ass castle in Canada is legit cheaper than me going to a school in another state.
I own half a bitcoin. Once this website called wealthsimple opens up their crypto portion I’ll be buying more weekly. Right now I have used ATMs here in TO and keep all my currency on a crypto wallet in my place.

And yes Montreal has many old Euro looking buildings. Google ‘old montreal’ it’s an entire part of the city with those types of buildings it’s beautiful.

I mean, I think the variety alone is making it better. The headlines finally aren’t flooded on any single topic so people are posting different items on their mind. There’s something about housing, social media regulation, Boston bomber death penalty overturn, Trumps tweet about delaying the election, etc. I just really sucks when one topic is the only thing people want to talk about and it’s lasts for weeks.

I have a friend who is a history professor at University of Louisiana. IDK how good of a school that is, but in-state tuition is ~13k annually.

Out of state for most universities is priced similarly to mid-tier private liberal arts schools.

Also don't invest in Bitcoin
