I hate how nihilistic this administration has made me, honestly at this point the more dead Americans seems to be the best possible outcome.

I suppose, but this doesn't seem fixable, our history is forever changed. I spent yhis entire precidency saying "don't equate Trump supporters with Fascism" I just can't anymore, Trump supporters are neo Black Hats.

It's upsetting, from the New Deal to the Marshall Plan the US has done some incredible things, but currently if it wasn't for my love of my city I would abandon this country. There is no saving America anymore.

I see 2 as being the key point there. Like, yes, there are some awful people here (and @waiguoren, I think people like TCK, geese, second sight, Farmer, etc. have more cultural compatibility issues than the average immigrant), but they are very much not normal. In a country as big as America (though really in every country) there are going to be a lot of real creeps. Not necessarily a lot as a percentage of the the total population, but a lot as a raw number.

I also think that if you look deeply into any era in history, you'll see that there has always been a lot of bad shit going on. Like regular people saying and doing terrible things that might have made news somewhat but doesn't really get a big place in history. I'm not minimizing the damage that Trump is doing to the country, but Trump-supporter-like people (and worse!) have always been among us. Overall, things are probably better than they've ever been, and I think the country still has a lot of big accomplishments ahead.

Frankly, I have no problem with kicking dirt on bad people when they die. And, also frankly, if the persons that are doing so had been so critical of him consistently through their lives, I wouldn't call foul. I reserve to do the same whenever someone that I really hate like Mitch McConnell dies.

But the people who supported him, supported his causes, will continue to support similar causes when people they like are spearheading them, but are saying he's a traitor, RINO, etc. just because he (rightfully) disliked their messiah? Because he didn't support a bill that would have thrown millions off healthcare and raised prices for the rest of us...and was bad for almost everybody? Fucking pathetic.

And the ones like TCK that are claiming to dislike him because he's a warmonger? Also hilarious since they cheered it on while pissing and moaning about how Obama was a pussy.

Truth right there.

And nope, poor Brian never got a second shot. Frankly, I had never heard of the original song and Tiny Tim, but when I did listen to it, I realized the song itself is sung very similar to how he sung it. So I feel like he got jobbed a bit... he really was going for Tiny Tim.

I actually thought Waigorun was a better poster than what he's recently shown. I caught up on one of the Mueller threads and God, I don't think I've seen someone write 100 posts and maybe got 3 likes in sum from them (not that I put much weight on likes, but man, that was an accomplishment what he did). Started going really crazy about not being found guilty since Cohen pleaded guilty. An incredibly preposterous assertion that nobody with any intellectual honesty or a functioning brain ought to make.

I think I'm more of a centrist than the posters that typically post in this thread, but damn there is such a dearth of good posters on the right. It seems virtually nobody on the right has the inner constitution to say they like some of Trump's core policies, but he is absolutely horrid with respect to honesty, character, polish, and appropriate behaviour. His supporters seem to feel this need to go deep into the abyss and defend the indefensible that no rational person ought to. I feel like shaking people and telling them "Just say you like some of his policies and he sucks with other stuff such as being incredibly hypocritical and full of shit, but you like him because you like some of his policies and view him being gone would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater."

I don't know. I think A&I's response is very human, and maybe he should worry more if he A) thinks these people are serious and common, and B) doesn't care about that. My thinking is that A is wrong, FWIW.

On some level, it's just repeating of talking points (literally, the GOP distributed a memo instructing talking heads to make that argument) and maybe a kind of intellectual challenge in defending it. But see above. The country is in actual danger, and he's playing games that worsen the situation.

The problem is the wai thing. The right is badly hurting for good pundits and talking heads, and thus the message-board posters who often just see an argument and regurgitate it end up looking bad. And I think the pundit problem is related to the "liberal media" CT, in that there's no iron against iron. Right-wing pundits just get to go play in the kiddie pool, and when their arguments are bad, policies fail, or predictions are falsified, they know that it'll all just get spun, and their core audience will never know.
