Must be a lot of damage. It's the infrastructure that's a problem here. They privatised electricity right before the boom in solar power cut margins, so the companies that bought the existing infrastructure don't want to build any more and rely heavily on a couple of lines from out of state. We had an 80 hr blackout a couple of years back. Not coincidentally, after privatisation we now have the highest electricity prices in the nation and are up there on the global scale as well.
Private utilities, private railroads etc. is about as waterheaded as neoliberalism comes. Like...what the fuck did anyone think would happen?
