What's the answer, though? Police departments have been adapting with body cams, etc. I'd like a perfect world where no wrongful deaths happen, and if they do, their buddies wont look out for them, but to me, voting seems to have much more effect than rioting and looting.

It's not a big mystery, the answers are here:

Policing practices have thoroughly studied for decades now and a bunch of solutions have come out from this. This is the best, research-based set of solutions that I know.

All 10 of these methods have a plethora of studies backing up their effectiveness.

@Darkballs

BTW, just lol @ seriously supporting the idea that the president can just arbitrarily choose to move around for the purpose of manipulating and dispersing crowds of people like he's using a magical force field.

Critically underrated show. I never gave it a chance until the lockdown. Wasn't even aware of the cast.

I have a hatchet but my wife stopped me from buying a sword at the antique store months ago.
i have a nice katana mounted on the wall, it's sharp decorative as fuck

So you hate law enforcement officers?

The guys who risk their life to keep you safe?

Better not call the police next time someone is raping you.

Always confuse your enemy
Is this like a more extreme version of the suit up scene from 13 Hours:
Private contractors waiting to be allowed to deploy to the embassy
"Sounds like the Holy war out there"
"You're going into the Holy war in cargo shorts?"
"Yup"
"Strong move"

This is awesome, gonna bookmark it. This is what we need more of from the movement; solid ideas for reform based on research and case studies.

@PolishHeadlock2

If this is intended to be used to protect house and home and you get any semi-automatic handgun get one with a rail for a light. You need to be able to see what you point the thing at and it's easier to shoot with two hands if the light is attached to the gun.
For home protection, I advocate an MPX.

@Gregolian @Falsedawn @HockeyBjj I'm in line at the gun store and its packed. What handgun should I get?

I'm a novice and I'd like my wife to be able to handle it

Oof. Should have done some research before. Trying to on the spot decide on a gun while in line in like 20 minutes is not the way to do it. Do they have a range with rental guns? If so, paying $20 bucks to try one out and see how you like it is absolutely the best way to go.

I would recommend something in 9mm for a 1st gun. Very all around good handgun caliber. If dedicated to buying something like right now you really can’t go wrong with a Glock. It’s like a high floor, low ceiling fantasy football start you won’t be disappointed in even if a couple years from now you realize you want something more specific for some purpose. Glock 17 for a full sized nightstand type gun with very little recoil and large magazine. Glock 19 if you’d be interested in one day getting your conceal carry. Wife’s hand size could be a determining factor. Glocks can get a little thick.

glocks don’t have a physical safety like a hunting shotgun or rifle. I’ve been happy with my Ruger sr9c (sr9 full size) and it has a thumb safety if that makes you more comfortable. Don’t monkey with a Glock trigger tho, and it’ll never go off without a deliberate pull anyways.

@Gregolian made a good point with the light for home defense. Get something with that one slot underrail. I like having a light on mine in the nightstand safe at night. I take light off and put the shorter 10 round magazine in instead of the 17 when I carry in public.

Well I've been in line for a little over an hour.

At this point I'm getting whatever they have left.

The number of truckers who've honked their horns to show solidarity with the gun buyers in this line has been touching

Don't be afraid to do an FFL transfer. Order online, get the FFL information for your pickup shop, they'll transfer it, and you pick it up for a small fee. All the big box shippers are shipping with limited delays, don't settle for something ill suited because it's what's left. You want something thats going to protect your life, make sure it fits your needs.
