Well I've been in line for a little over an hour.

At this point I'm getting whatever they have left.

Rioter/Protester fears spark the sudden urge to immediately get a gun, when previously there wasn’t much interest?

Not judging at all, just curious what sparks someone to get their first gun when they didn’t grow up hunting and shooting like I did.

Order a quick access safe off amazon or something if you have kids. Don’t just leave it in a closet even if unloaded and with the cheapo trigger lock that comes with the gun.

Uh, if truly dedicated to just getting whatever they have left. Get a 9mm in a brand you recognize. Glock. Sig. Ruger. Smith and Wesson. Don’t get a Taurus or something that is rare when you don’t know what you’re doing.

Don’t know how many replies it’s gotten, but I’ve made a thread in the weapons subforum in the past kinda exactly for your position as a first time gun buyer. Some guys who really know their shit frequent the W&T and could maybe help even if you’re low on options due to all of the panic buyers right now

Philly have a wait period on guns or no? Illinois, you wouldn’t be able to walk out of a gun store same day with a handgun. Wisconsin you might be able to but it depends on background check length. Sometimes that only takes an hour to get through the system. Sometimes into the next day. Each state is so different and cities have laws on top of state ones I’ve got no clue Philly

Don't be afraid to do an FFL transfer. Order online, get the FFL information for your pickup shop, they'll transfer it, and you pick it up for a small fee. All the big box shippers are shipping with limited delays, don't settle for something ill suited because it's what's left. You want something thats going to protect your life, make sure it fits your needs.

I've legit bought the last 3 guns I purchased through Buds Gun Shop and had them ship it to my FFL of choice.

Gun stores, if they're good and not fuddy ones, are super chill about it. I had my CZ shipped to a local store out here and when I went to pick it up:
"You know we carry CZ too right?"
"I didn't realize at the time I ordered it as I had just moved here"
"Sounds good. Just remember we can get you what you want... you aren't in a small town in WA anymore so we can special order most anything"

Yeah, my shop is one of those small family owned joints. They have your Springfields and Colts and shit, but they're a Sig graveyard. The dude behind the counter was oohing and aahing over the MPX. Motherfucker almost got me for a can though, so i'm probably the real mark. He had me about to register it individually and put it in jail right there lmao.
