War Room Lounge v125: I was hoping @Trotsky's "debt for ants" quip would make it into the title lol

You should hang around and be enlightened. Just wait for a race baitey thread and dive on in sharing your opinions on the matter. It’s a good ‘ole time.
i am not new to the war room, and i see people getting heated.
it's the reporting part i don't really get, especially since it's apparently quite obsessive for some posters.
some people can't handle words.

I don’t know, I enjoy watching ufc without fans more. Hearing every thud and the corner interactions is fantastic

Hearing players more for football and hockey I think can be a worthwhile trade off to not hear the roar of the crowd

I wonder if for the players tho it’ll feel more like glorified exhibition games and not get their competitive juices flowing as much

Yeah, I think individual sports are in the best spot(at least for holding interest without a crowd). Especially high risk sports, like Boxing and UFC, where you're still gonna have the natural excitement of two people trying to kill each other. With team sports though, it's going to be jarring. The crowd reactions are half the fun, and creates the intoxicating atmosphere, whether you're there live or watching on TV. I can't imagine watching silent Hockey or Basketball for too long, before it gets dull as shit, and just plain awkward.

No, not even close. Just $26M. Still a lot, though. Especially for a guy with 12.1 bWAR over the last four years combined.
DERP, that's right. His whole contract though would close in on 9 wouldn't it?

I just LOVE how the Nats win the title the year he leaves. There's something about that as a guy that cheers for the Mariners and Red Sox (Mariners suck, so let's be honest I need a team that can compete to watch and I hate the Yankees) seeing a team that had been down on their luck and JUST missed it constantly win it all.

Though, there's that added sadness too. The Detroit Tigers starting pitching staff from their hey day have all won rings... with other teams.

Verlander with the Astros in 2017
Porcello with the Red Sox in 2018
Price with the Red Sox in 2018
Max Scherzer with the Nats in 2019
Anibal Sanchez with the Nats in 2019

God that's just, gruesome and painful if you are a Tigers fan.

Tony Snell of the Rays created some controversy the other day.

He is due for 7 million dollars this year. MLB owners because of the lack of gate revenue and stuff are talking about paying a pro-rated rate to player (so if the season is only half as long players only get half their yearly salary).

Tony Snell made some comment "I won't play unless I get mine" and Bryce Harper (@Sara) made some supportive comment of him. Harper makes near 9 figures a year I believe.

I don't normally agree with Screamin' A Smith.. but I will let him make his statement as I support it:

Yes, Tony Snell didn't make a ton of money when he won the Cy Young. BUT MOTHERFUCKER! 33 MILLION people claimed unemployment and you're talking you won't be willing to play a FUCKING GAME for 3.5 MILLION dollars which is MORE THAN MOST PEOPLE MAKE IN A LIFETIME?! Get fucking real.

Yeah, I saw the Snell rant, and while it's easy to disagree with him because pay cut or no pay cut, he's still sitting pretty, but I understand where he's coming from. He's being asked to stay in one area for the year, and risk his health...for lower pay from a bunch of billionaires trying to pinch pennies, whose lives won't be altered at all.

I wouldn't have said it myself, because you just can't win that argument in the public eye, and will always come off as a spoiled athlete. However, if you separate all that, and just look at it from a player/owner perspective, he's got a legit gripe.

so i keep hearing most of the reports in sherdog come from a small group of whiny little children in the War Room
is this correct?
the WAR ROOM is the whiniest section of sherdog?
please confirm, because it's just something i heard and i think it's troubling.

Maybe you should tag a mod....

I would imagine the War Room is a hotbed for reports, given how emotional people get in here.

Probably. Talking about politics A) leads to hurt feelings more B) gets a person to get worked up enough to break rules more

yeah, emotional, but i would imagine after the age of 12 people learn how to keep their emotions in check.
i mean, how do they function in society?
are they all a bunch of male karens calling for the manager?

very sad.

Reports are more frequent here than other subforums and the legitimate ones are welcomed. It helps the staff a lot and isn’t discouraged. If a poster abuses the feature with constant frivolous reports, we reach out and tell them to stop or eventually tell them to no longer use the feature.

I agree with Stephen but I also get Max's argument (I think Shannon said something similar on his show with Skip when they covered it).

I GET SNELL'S POINT. You just don't fucking say that when 33 million are out of work. The timing is bad. LET'S say if it was at a time period where the virus was under control and life was returning to normal for most people I would have no problem with what Snell said.

Reported.

Out of curiosity, what sort of things do you think get reported frivolously?
anything that the general american culture deems as "offensive", hurt-my-feelings type, perceived racism, perceived trolling or imagined persecution (omg this guy keeps quoting me). stuff like this
