To stay home in this mess with an at risk wife I risk bringing something home to, I would.

Problem is, the person attempting the pay cuts is the founder of Apollo Global's investment firm. If I remember correct there are only 3 board members, and he's one of them. He not only owns the Sixers but a hockey team too (forgot which team). Think about that, the founder/board member of Apollo Global issuing 20% pay cuts to regular staffers. I highly, highy, highly doubt this fool needs to pay cut anyone ever, and once he received negative backlash now has had a "change of heart, saw the error in his ways" and cancelled the pay cut altogether and "apologized" for being wrong. No one who actually needs to pay cut individuals can reverse course within hours with a "sorry my bad". Pretty scummy stuff.

This can't be compared in the same universe as you saying, "I'd take a 20% pay cut to stay home and avoid potential disaster to my high-risk wife".

the $500 slush fund controlled by the most corrupt president in history is ludicrous. You’d have to be a fucking idiot to approve of that. You can skip the bullshit and just write government checks to Trump properties at that point.

Tbh imo it would be less horrifying if I thought he would just embezzle it. But what's going to happen is that money will be used for political leverage.

The owner of the Calgary Flames has recently been shaking down the city to pay for a new stadium, and has decided not to pay any workers who lost wages due to the shutdown. The Edmonton Oilers made a commitment to pay all the workers the wages they would have made. The owner of the Calgary Flames is a piece of shit.

Tell you what. As huge as a sports fan I am for certain sports, if I saw an owner do this of a team, the former there, I'd make it my life mission to never give them a penny of my money. No game attendance, no ratings, nothing. It isn't much, but every little bit counts and it's the best I could do.

Been known to... lol understatement of the week day, I think. Maybe it's not so common these days (or is it?) but when I was entering the workforce, it was understood to be an extremely common practice in many fields.

The Obama administration passed labor regulations making it less common than it used to be. But there are exemptions to the requirements, so it still happens but it has to be much more narrowly tailored and not as flagrant.

What about Fedor/Brock

Expropriate the team imo.

There is one owner who is worse. Eugene Melnyk, who owns the Ottawa senators. He lives in Bermuda to avoid paying taxes. He's had a lien put out on a private jet of his, as well as had checks bounce at local casinos, as well as not paying some staff members. And the cherry on the sundae: he needed a life saving partial liver transplant. An Ottawa Senators fan literally stepped up and donated part of his liver to this guy, and he's threatening to move the team if he doesn't get a new arena built.

Well, it depends on how much you're making. I don't have any reason to believe it's the case with the Sixers, but employers have been known to use salaried positions to exploit low-level workers by skirting overtime pay provisions.

Yeah. In my post I think I even called out salaries over 70k with a question mark. Wisconsin raised their excempt from overtime amount up to 47k in 2016 when I lived there and I was like wait, you could have someone working 55 hours a week for a flat 30k salary before this?

Is today just the shitposting Olympics or something?

Dictating forced sales of sports franchises to the units of local government in which they play would be one of my Day 2 acts as president. Take the team's last yearly net revenue, multiply it by ten or some shit, stipulate that as the fair value, and transfer ownership upon plurality approval by voter referendum.

Any list that doesn't include the Glazer family is wrong as fuck

<mma3>

Also Jimmy Haslam who's a total asswipe. Come on son

I give him slack for being relatively new and presiding over the first genuine injection of hope and excitement into the Browns franchise in 20 years.

Whoever owns the Jets probably deserves a place on the list based on the lol-worthy past 10 years.
