Damn that Monk’s menu looks amazing

The mussels are known far and wide. The beer selection unsurpassed.

There was another Belgian joint in town that was pretty good so we'd oftentimes hit it since Monk's was always so fuckin' packed. Uncomfortably so. Lucky if you got there and didn't have to wait.

I'm taking a break. I've been playing since like 10am.

I can't stream it for some reason. Every time I do, the stream footage freezes. Like, the webcam still works just fine, but the game is just frozen on stream even though it's playing just fine.
Oh

I wouldn't be against used or refurbs but I thought they were more expensive so I'll probably go with new unless there is a reason not to....

Also..... this might be dumbest question but is a Geek Squad protection plan worth it or is all of that stuff covered by a warranty?

Thanks again.

refurbs are basically units that were defective, returned back & then factory "restored". so they'd be a lot cheaper afterwards. I usually aim for these & damaged machines too because I have the resources to fix 'em up myself.

as far as Geek Squad... nah man, don't even bother haha. not worth the money. that's just paying the store you bought your laptop from to call upon their goons to "fix" your shit. it's just a way for them to keep you in their pocket. fuck that I mean the best warranty you can get is a manufacturer's warranty.

if you buy a laptop off of the manufacturer's site, you can get direct deals & purchase the kind of warranty that works best for you. I personally stick with ThinkPads from Lenovo, business oriented machines.

This might make it clear I’m not tech savvy but what’s the best option on a laptop where I want enough ports to handle 3 external monitors and also have 3 USB ports for wireless mouse, keyboard and headset? Does something like that exist or is it extensive enough that you might as well have a desktop?
Just be sure of one thing no matter what you get.

(Everyone say it with me) DON'T FUCKING BUY FROM LENOVO!

I've watched this about ten times in a row and still can't stop laughing.
By the way, I caught this the other day on NPR although it's from the BBC,
How the Irish Shaped Britain

In this series Fergal Keane explores the profound influence the Irish have had on Britain over many centuries, from the vanished tribes of the ancient Celtic world to the Ryanair generation of today.
The telling of the story of Britain and Ireland has been dominated by narratives of conquest and rebellion in which a powerful empire attempts to subdue an indomitable native spirit – two different identities colliding throughout history. Fergal presents a more complex narrative. He begins with the old kingdoms of the Irish Sea, and travels through the time of the Vikings to the 19th and 20th century migrations, all the way to present day. Throughout the Irish have shaped literature, culture, politics and the physical landscape.

Whether it is 19th century theatre or verse, or today’s pop culture, Irish migrants and their descendants have deeply influenced and steered the UK’s literature and arts. Think of Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw or, more recently, the Beatles, the Sex Pistols, Oasis, or Terry Wogan, Paul Merton, Claire Foy, the Irish and their descendants have had a profound influence on Britishness. The Irish have also been highly influential in the world of business, politics and sport.
As migration, integration and assimilation dominate public debate in Britain, Fergal examines the impact of the longest and biggest immigrant story in the history of the United Kingdom.

It's only half an hour and quite worth a listen, IMHO.

I saw your one rant and was surprised cause I’ve heard good things about that brand but it was a long time ago. I always though Asus and Lenovo were the quality buy but as I mentioned I know little about laptops. I have had to Asus laptops though and they lasted a very long time and still run okay after nearly a decade.

Cowboy boots? I'd have made fun of him until he tried to kill me too.

Apparently the guy who took the whoopin' almost lost an eye and is claiming he was trying to de-escalate things. Seemed more like he was looking for a scrap or trying to intimidate the other dude.
