Funniest fighter ever imo. He’s the only reason I’ll bother watching the card, and only his fight, after it’s done.

Some absolutely fantastic news out today. Biden administration is saving the Mashpee Wampanoag from Trump's attempt at effectively terminating them. Not only was it a cruel and completely fucked thing to do (as it always has been), but the legal implications for other tribes not recognized specifically as part of the Indian Reorganization Act were massive. The change of administrations, in my opinion, has saved numerous tribes from the precipice of being terminated, and the introduction generally of a new and grotesquely justified era of termination as a policy doctrine. The importance of this issue cannot be overstated.
This is the kind of stuff that makes my eyes rolls out of my head whenever someone like @skysolo rants about both parties being the same. Turns out that elections actually do have different consequences depending on who wins them and, crucially, who is being antagonized.
Biden admin coming up real huge for all the Native people that helped propel him into office.

Didn’t Trump basically want to tuck them over due to casino beef? I think that was the motivation, something to do with a casino.

I think I went to a Wampanoag casino when I lived in NE. Either way all the casinos around there are tribal ones. I may have visited them all...

Yeah it was all due to a non-Native casino interest not wanting the Mashpee to build one. The problem was that they couldn't stop the tribe from making a casino on their new tribal land, so they went an ultra scummy route and persuaded the courts that the tribe didn't even have legal standing to be a tribe at all. It was pretty horrific. The legal precedent it set, which can certainly continue to be a problem later on down the road with a less friendly administration, is ultra turbo fucked.
