Back in the day conservative meant fiscally responsible and small government footprint. These days, it's more likely to refer to religious zealots who want to police everyone else's sex life.

The intensely successful and focused gerrymandering campaign of 2010 increased the power of the "fringe" by orders of magnitude, and it won't get better unless we find a way to undo that damage. We have way way too many races being decided at the primary level.

Media and social media does not help at all and exacerbates the situation much much more. It plays a big part. Even how social media uses the algorithms to feed you exactly the type of stuff you prefer is crushing people's perspectives of reality. You watch a few videos of black people stealing from stores and you get every video similar. Before long you just think it's all black people.

I consider anyone in support of the current President unprincipled, and that is a shitload of people. I don't see that on the left. I have a feeling people are going to reply that they agree with certain things and not on others, and I get that. But Trump is such a lawless threat to the Constitution and Democracy that I just can't give them a pass. You cannot gloss over that just because you happen to agree with some policies.

That may be. I really don't follow any particular posters in here but it was just my impression. You could be spot on. Ultimate it doesn't really matter. Political spectrums are complex. A friend of mine that used to work for me is a lesbian conservative. That's why when people try to just label people as right or left it's not always clear

Ultimately people vote for a myriad of reasons. Usually what's important to them and in their best interest. The DNC has done a lot as of late. The Border was out of control.
