Social War Room Lounge 318: Propaganda Extravaganza

Moved to lounge but couldn’t pass up a chance for Risk talk.

I tend to agree Australia can be a trap or playing for second place. It’s true anytime you get to final three but you have to depend on the other two duking it out enough to have a chance in the end game. Even at that point, I think the troop count isn’t enough. Smart players would take time to move to the end game as they should be replenishing troops each turn faster.

Yea, I’d say you usually need to play Asia not to secure but cover on a turn when something chaotic is going on and hope the other players won’t get around to taking on Asia country either due to the direction or hoping someone else will cover it. There’s a lot of unsaid cooperation in that game that I love. Everyone is out for themselves but if you play too selfish, people will start focusing on you.

I can’t really remember what strategy I stuck with. Haven’t played in a few years but it was a great game to play online or mobile. Different game types like fog the map you aren’t near was cool as well

Consolidating Australia and blockading in Siam until the rest of the world is in flames is my preferred strategy.
In life, but also in Risk.

It’s still not clear to me if legally trump can even run? I keep getting told he can’t.

By whom? As of right now, while awaiting the result of lots of different ongoing legal proceedings, he certainly is allowed. I believe there's a very strong argument to be made that he should not be so it will be interesting to see how all the cases turn out.

His name being removed from the ballets if he’s still “allowed” is a bad move then. He’s being made into a victim again.

I think you misunderstood so perhaps I wasn't clear. He hasn't been removed from any ballot yet because of numerous court challenges which will (presumably) decide whether he is allowed or not.

In a couple of states they've suspended taking action to remove him until the Supreme Court has an opportunity to render a judgement on whether it's something the state can even do on this particular basis and whether the circumstances warrant it in their collective opinion. In a few others they've decided they don't have the authority to make such a decision so once again it pretty much all falls on the Federal Supreme Court, who may choose to ignore it completely and send it back to the states to decide for themselves--in which case he's off the ballot in Maine and Colorado but other states do not have to follow suit, or they may affirm or deny the states' claims he should be ineligible according to the 14th amendment.

If they affirm the Colorado Supreme Court decision that he should be removed, then the door is wide open to do so nationally but no one really knows what's going to happen.

He was never made into a victim except according to his own propaganda. He has brought all of this entirely upon himself, he has no one else to blame, and he deserves to get fist-fucked by the legal system until he's got nothing left but a hairpiece and a prison cell to call his own.

and he’s going to do it to get re-elected Andy. Because even if the legal system should stop him, he keeps getting away with it, and is able to say look what they do to me, I’ll protect you for the same treatment.

Oh well one is attack on your own government and country and it’s treason, one is an act of war.
One is about 2,000 unarmed idiots with the collective IQ of a potato rioting in a public space of the most militarized nation on Earth. The other displaced millions of people, killed hundreds of thousands, killed over 4,000 Americans, and cost us at least a trillion dollars.

Oakland cop shot and killed early this morning.
Suspect still outstanding.
Messed up.

@Sara j/k about the response above...

But seriously, as I said earlier ITT, I see the question of whether the Colorado State Supreme Court got it right (pending an opinion from the US Supreme Court)--I think they did, and whether the question should have been settled in state court before there was any result from all the indictments against Trump--probably not, as two completely different things.

In other words, it's one thing to assert that it does more harm than good to bring the lawsuits against him in the first place, but it's a completely different thing to assert the Colorado Supreme court erred in its interpretation of the law and that Trump should remain on the ballot. I don't think they did.

Also, regarding your comment, I strongly doubt that works on anyone except people who will vote for him anyway.

I really think that’s how he manipulates people onto voting

Indeed, he certainly manipulated a lot of people into voting for Joe Biden.

Again, I quote Bill Barr, "Trump is the only person not from Delaware to lose an election to Joe Biden."

The thing is, there's not really any denying what took place in Georgia. Several of the defendants subject to the RICO indictment have already pleaded guilty. Trump can cry victim all he wants but he's still very plainly guilty and not even MAGA has made any attempt to deny it because there's not a whisper of a case to do so.

People aren't going to suddenly switch their vote to Trump from Biden after they see the people who took plea deals testifying in court.

Which reminds me, speaking of the whole victim thing, the suit to remove Trump from the ballot in Colorado was filed by a group of four Republicans so to suggest he's being persecuted is doubly silly and all the less likely to be bought into by undecideds.

That town is basically lost at this point. Sports teams pulling out, 3 teacher union strikes in like a 5 year span, crime is nearing late 70s levels

On top of that perhaps the worst leader ship in the state. The city missed out on millions of dollars in federal grant money to combat commercial theft because they did not get their paperwork filed in a timely manner.

Great suspect, yeah.

I was in your neck of the woods for the Christmas weekend. If you saw a midnight blue E300 around that you didn't recognize, that was me.

I was at the ice-skating rink there (right next to the Fox Theater) this morning. No issues. Sucks about the A's though, yeah.
