I was at the ice-skating rink there (right next to the Fox Theater) this morning. No issues. Sucks about the A's though, yeah.
No homeless in parking garage?
I'm impressed if so

But yeah, the A's and Raiders are a big bummer. More so the A's, I like Baseball and they are such a great historic team

Parked on the street. No homeless. Round the corner, sometimes there are. It's not exactly a nice area, but it's not a bad one at all.

its not quite new years and i'm already running out of booze. the liquor store just opened and i'm already half cut. gonna have one more drinky poo and then go on a resupply mission.

my liver fucking hates me and come the end of every december we are no longer on speaking terms but at least i'm not an alcoholic because i don't go to meetings.

Moved to lounge but couldn’t pass up a chance for Risk talk.

I tend to agree Australia can be a trap or playing for second place. It’s true anytime you get to final three but you have to depend on the other two duking it out enough to have a chance in the end game. Even at that point, I think the troop count isn’t enough. Smart players would take time to move to the end game as they should be replenishing troops each turn faster.

Yea, I’d say you usually need to play Asia not to secure but cover on a turn when something chaotic is going on and hope the other players won’t get around to taking on Asia country either due to the direction or hoping someone else will cover it. There’s a lot of unsaid cooperation in that game that I love. Everyone is out for themselves but if you play too selfish, people will start focusing on you.

I can’t really remember what strategy I stuck with. Haven’t played in a few years but it was a great game to play online or mobile. Different game types like fog the map you aren’t near was cool as well

ive been playing risk online through steam every now and then. i just won a capitol conquest battle this morning by abusing the fuck out of the australian turtle strategy lol.

it took 4 hours to finish and turned into a very methodical and safe played game until some pulled a dick move on someone and then shit hit the fan and 4 dudes ended up taking themselves out of the game just because the one guy decided to abandon all strategy just to go on a murder-suicide revenge mission on the dude who took a piece of his africa and it got him all heated.

it was hilarious. the two of them basically put each other out, and then two other guys ended up getting heated just to try to clean up on the territories after the first 2 guys laid waste to each other, only for them to just fuck each other out of the game over a dispute for those extra territories. i just kept doing my turtling and amassing my colossal army all on siam which i eventually unleashed with devastating success.

i usually try to start with the tried and true australian turtle approach, or going for south america + africa or south america and then slow playing north america. i never have much luck trying to start with north america or europe, and i won't ever try to start with asia because of the aussie turtles. if i dont do the turtle, somebody else will. its a dickball strategy, but i find it hilarious.

sometimes ill mix it up and go games where territories are distributed randomly....as well as territories and starting troops. those can get very strategic and you have to take a more calculated approach to everything, and it involves alot of luck at the start of the game. i'll also play with fog of war sometimes where you can only see who's on the territories and how many troops they have on territories adjacent to the ones you already own, so you dont really know who's doing what elsewhere on the map.

i used to play alot of poker and risk with my homeboys back in the days so risk always has a warm place in my heart. though some of the games can end up taking a stupidly long amount of time to finish if everybody is playing it smart.

I have a soft spot for board games in general. I'm from a big family and we played a lot of them. I pretty much had the entire Monopoly board memorized at one point.

And yeah, it got to be hard to finish a game of Risk in a reasonable amount of time after awhile.

Monopoly is your favorite? My parents didnt have enough patience for board games haha. We played them occasionally but not a whole lot.
