I remember thinking how familiar those two new guys "sounded" when they first showed up.

That reflects well on both of them. That's pretty much the biggest marker between a poster worth reading and one who isn't. If DS, second sight, clmetal, RR, BCS, junes, pwent, Space, palis, WWF, and many more switched names and AVs, no one would know the difference. But real posters, good ones, would be instantly recognizable (though I know of one former high-level poster who changed both his name and his position on issues, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who knows unless he told anyone else privately).

You got me wondering what term is appropriate for Benghazi. Best I've got is embarrassment. A big political embarrassment that drove accusations and denial. If you consider failing to protect the embassy immoral then I can see labeling it a scandal. Most probably just consider it a fuck up due to negligence or unforeseen extenuating circumstances (or hubris ).

Personally I find blaming it on the Youtube video scandalous, in light of evidence that there was no good-faith belief in the veracity of the claim. But I'm not a big fan of political deception.

Given the passes we gave over 911 or as far back as the Beirut bombings during Reagan, I really start to tune out when it becomes a he said / she said over who thought what / when for the motives of the attack. It's highly partisan BS not designed to get to the bottom of anything.
