But the waitress keeps bringing me ass on a platter

Every time I go to a restaurant I ask for cake and then do the eye raise.

<BC1>

Like, I get along with my team members but these team building exercises are names out of a hat so I could be working with motherfucking administrators for this shit that already have 900 hours of PTO saved up and make $120k a year.

And speaking of not fucking where one eats... one of my team members (IE, the only one younger than me) is actually quite attractive and it's annoying as fuck.

I'm reliable and helpful, but strictly professional. It throws people off because I'm not a big well of small talk, so I get the reputation of being a bit of a malcontent strictly by not playing the office politics game. I'm convinced everyone else is weird and I'm gonna run the joint one day lol.

And brooooo, office dating is one of those things I kill on the spot. Had a good number of opportunities, but I'll be damned if a little booty messes up my money. #MeToo only made me feel more justified about it tbh. If someone were to make a complaint about me, they'd have to drive uphill against a long established history of me not caring about anything other than the paycheck.

I joke around with my team members but it's nice that the support staff, none of us are real "office politic" types as we all show up, do our job, bitch about other people that can't/don't do their jobs, and joke around.

And yeah, office dating is a no-go for me. It just sucks that she's attractive and into a lot of the same geeky shit I'm into.

You bring up a good point.

Office socialization, norm or not the norm?

On one hand, you spend 8 hours a day with these people. Outside of your family (or incredibly close friends), that's probably the greatest share of time you'll spend with anyone.

On the other hand, I go to work to get paid, not make friends. And I make a point not to fuck where I eat.

Hmmmmmm
Not a hard decision for me. They already get enough of my time. Not a second more.

The timeline bears it out. Nothing but flaming from you and a few others. He then started saying you guys were acting like apes and yetis and shit. He never doxxed anyone.

Your continual flaming went unchecked by Mods for some reason. While him fighting back resulted in a ban.

We have 2 big deadlines a year which we celebrate with happy hours.

We also have vendors that want to take us to various sporting events and/or happy hours so we socialize a decent amount.

Invited 2 coworkers to my wedding.

I'd never date a coworker though. I've never had an amicable breakup. It always gets to the point that we absolutely despise each other when I've broken up with a a chick

I’ll socialize at work, but I in no way want to hang out with anyone outside of the office. I don’t even make excuses when I’m invited to non work events I just say no.

Admittedly only reason I'm going is free food.

Apparently there's a prize for winning these "team building games" like word searches and making paper airplanes and shit.

1st place is 8 hours of PTO
2nd is like 4

Let's hope the food is good

Those team building things are so, so annoying. They pretty much require them everywhere, but say they aren't required, but hold them against you if you don't require yourself into it lol.

I'd never date a coworker though.

This is the best and worst thing to do at the same time.

Last time I played I hadn't picked up a cue in probably more than a year. Broke and ran the first two racks. Reality set back in quick, but I'll always have that 5 minutes imo.
I've noticed a lot of people are like that, including me. It's a strange phenomenon. I can't figure out what happens in the first little while that goes away after about 1 or 2 games but if I ever do I will write a book.

Admittedly only reason I'm going is free food.
I'm going to a work party later for the free food. If it's one thing i'm good at in this life, it's eating tremendous amounts of free food.

Same, I just hope it's decent and not some stereotypical bullshit holiday food like ham. Give me like stir fry and shit damnit.

I admittedly would fake my way out of going and walk to Subway to use a gift card I had if it were not for the chance at more paid time off. AND it's put on your books as "admin leave" which means I basically can use it whenever the fuck I want like a free personal day.

They had the best every veggie rolls I don’t know what they are called, like wrapped up veggies in rice paper with rice noodles? At my last staff party. I mean there was other food too, but I ate 2 whole ones they were that fng good.

I'm gonna be at some yuppie brewery so I expect the food will be at least decent

Your reward for team building is...getting the opportunity to spend less time with them?

Right.

Hence why I'm kinda back to the "just do stupid speeches and let me eat while glaring at my phone"

559 to the Hawaii Bar just now.
Another 4 something to CA bar after I get around to paying it.

How is this constitutional? Just for what so I can work so I can pay taxes? Every year I have to pay these bar dues and its not right.

They make me wear pants at my job and I hate that too.

Cost of doing business yeah?

I've dated coworkers, but at temp jobs. Current SO is someone I worked with a few years ago, even.

Not sure if working in different departments at a big place would make a difference. I'd consider that.
