Ain't it like 150 degrees down there or something?First World Emergency in my household today, my espresso machine packed it in and parts won't arrive until mid-January.
I was jonesing just thinking about it.
So essentially I was forced to upgrade (though admittedly I only drink a couple of cups a day on these 40+ degrees Celsius days).
Apparently the solenoid on the three way valve seized, causing the pump to blow all the lines and rupture itself. Needs a new pump, new 3-way valve, all new seals and new lines.
Quoted $500 for repairs, but parts won't arrive until mid January, which is completely unacceptable (although I'll probably do the work myself and source parts online, which should bring it down to @$200).
Managed to pick up a Bezzera Galatea Domus for $1300, which was a great price, but the thing's massive and taken over the kitchen. Looked a lot smaller in the pictures.
My back wasn't particularly happy about carrying 27kgs of poorly balanced stainless Italian dining sculpture up the stairs.
It also seems to radiate heat like a 1000W bar heater.

First they came for the manlets but I did not speak out since I was not a manletbird-boned manlets
At least you dont have one of those plastic wasting, single serving shit Keurig machines or similar devices
I don't like coffee very much, but Keurig coffee is uniquely disgusting. It's surprising to me it's become so popular when the product always tastes so bad.
Bah!Springfield

That's sweet. I've never seen stray dogs in any of the cities that I've lived in, but Havana is famously filled with stray dogs everywhere and I fall in love with one every time I visit. But it's sooooo complicated and expensive to take a stray animal from any country, let alone one that your home country is embargoing.

50-deg Celsius = 122-deg FreedomheitI can't translate that American nonsense into a real scale, but yeah, something like that. Things are bursting into flames.
My chili and caffeine addictions don't take a break for the warm months though.
Look if he did something that makes him deserved to be out of office then get rid of him. But if he did the news is not exactly doing a very good job explaining that to the public. Something Ukraine something. The impression that I get and this could be completely off base is he is getting impeached because the Dems don't like Trump. And I see these statements and letters that boil down to me to say I know so much better than the public trust us this guy should go.
And finally it just all feels so disingenuous to me. We know the Senate is not going to remove him so what is the point of all of this?
I find the waste it produces far more appalling, ...and I secretly judge those who order coffee with a plastic/paper cup every FUCKING day rather than carrying a thermos or reusable cup.
I used to know people that worked at Keurig HQ outside of Boston. There were a surprising amount of people that worked there that acknowledged the problem with waste and wished they could go back in time and start over.I find the waste it produces far more appalling, ...and I secretly judge those who order coffee with a plastic/paper cup every FUCKING day rather than carrying a thermos or reusable cup.

Thank you for the compliment. As strange as that sounds it leads to my next point. I have a larger demonstrated background in constitutional law than over 90% of the law professors that signed the last open letter. I don't know much about these history professors but I would bet money that most of these guys are in the same boat. And this is the truth I have no idea whether Trump committed anything that deserves impeachment. I have a pretty cursory knowledge of what he did for one thing. Most of what I know about it I read here in the war room.

Well I a don't believe that most of these people actually know better than you or me. Being a historian or a law professor does not instantly translate into being a impeachment expert.

Assuming Trump has done something that makes him deserving of being removed from office then the Dems and all the assorted commentators and professors have done a extremely poor job of explaining what that is.
This from the law professor letter is not it
That means nothing to me. Either the Constitution allows for the removal of the President because the House feels like it or you need to articulate something more than some nebulous constitutional law principle than would not win you a case in any trial court in this country.
We live in a republican democracy. If a elected official especially the President is removed from office the public needs to understand why.
And finally it just all feels so disingenuous to me. We know the Senate is not going to remove him so what is the point of all of this?
The GOP strategy has been to try to give that impression.
The reality is that there is a lot that could justify impeachment. The specific Ukraine thing is just that Congress approved desperately needed aid to Ukraine, and rather than simply disperse it, Trump tried to force them to publicly announce an investigation into Biden to help him (Trump) in the next election.
Congress is just doing its job. It would be unconscionable to just let that kind of abuse of power and criminality by the president go by with no response. If senators are going to put partisan loyalty over their responsibility to the public, that's their issue, but even then, the public should know that about them.
I would be surprised if he's not already doing, or has already done, his next impeachable thing. It should be noted Trump dispersed aid in 2017 and 2018.
On his first call with Zelensky (which took place before Biden announced he was running) he didn't mention anything about corruption.
It was not until Biden announced he was running and instantly took the lead in the polls that Trump decided that corruption was a problem.
And according to Sondland who was appointed by Trump and donated $1M to Trump's campaign, Trump just wanted them to announce an investigation. He didn't care if they actually carried it out.
And Zelensky was prepared to make the announcement, but the whistleblower filed his report and it caused Trump to release the aid.
Trump would have gotten away with it if not for the whistleblower.
And now Trump (with big assistance from Barr) is trying to do everything he can to retaliate against those who've investigated him, testified against him or reported him so that nobody will try stop him in the future.
