I suggest you be more careful. You're filling in the blanks bit by bit.
He went thru my post history to dig up nuggets like previous injuries, and iirc he has goaded others to dox people in the past. Uncool.

There was always a small part of me that enjoyed idiot muscle heads testing me to show off. They were the only ones I ever enjoyed basically doing a spine buster to
Sometimes you have to show them who's who and what's what.

Most guys who are big like that know they can do real damage if they want to, I think they tend to be more careful/gentle out of fear of accidentally fucking someone up, but you get a guy like that pissed off and the adrenaline gets going, God help you.
My older brother had this friend who was about 6'1", 350-360,(this is over 25 years ago) and that cocksucker would slap me on the back of head and it would literally push me forward half a step and rattle my brain, and I'm a muscular 190 myself. I know it was his way of showing affection, but finally one day after I asked him not to do it about a dozen times, he did it again and I turned around and just popped him on the chin with a legit stiff jab. He was in shock and looked like he was ready to kill me but I needed him to understand that it legitimately hurt and it needed to stop. He never did it again after that, thankfully, but the point is the guy was so fuck'n strong.

BTW I seen with my own eyes, that same guy crease the binding of a yellow pages and then rip in half and he made it look easy.

I played hockey with a guy who was 6'5 and pushing 300lbs and as another muscular 190er I concluded that I have no right to feel strong anywhere really. Maybe up against other bird-boned manlets in select settings.

What people don't realize is that when you give a body that size momentum you better hope he's keeping himself in check at all times or someone could legitimately die.

These are opportunities where you learn about "The Gapes Of Harmony"....

Natural selection in East Asian populations has favoured genetic mutations leading to bigger brains, according to a new study by Chinese researchers that did not find a similar preference in Europe or Africa.

The study has shed new light on a controversial issue that has puzzled scientists for decades: why is the average Asian brain bigger than the average European or African one?

The world’s largest survey of brain sizes, conducted by American scientists three decades ago using more than 20,000 modern human skulls from around the globe, found that the average cranial volume among East Asians was 1,415 cubic centimetres, compared with 1,362 for Europeans and 1,268 for Africans.

Chinese researchers suggest ultrasound may have future potential to treat brain disorders

Subsequent studies have confirmed those results. Among them was a magnetic resonance imaging survey last year which found that East Asians had a higher cranial vault, which allowed their skulls to house a bigger brain.

Researchers proposed a range of hypotheses to explain the differences, with some suggesting that living in a cold climate could lead to a boost in brain size because in such conditions a bigger brain would be better at maintaining a constant temperature at its core, where most thinking took place.

But the climate theory could not fully explain differences in the brain sizes of people living in the same latitudes, such as Chinese and Europeans.

The Chinese researchers said a gene called CASC5 – one of eight regulating human brain size – might provide more clues. Unlike most of the other genes, which also regulated the brain sizes of monkeys or early human species such as Denisovans and Neanderthals, genetic mutations of CASC5 in Homo sapiens are relatively young, only occurring after our species left Africa between 50,000 and 100,000 years ago.

The researchers, led by Professor Su Bing, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Kunming Institute of Zoology, compared CASC5 mutations in different populations for the first time.

They found a “high frequency” of four mutations closely related to increased brain size among East Asian populations including Chinese, Japanese and Mongolians. But such mutations rarely occurred in Europe or Africa.

The mystery of yawning: scientists suggest it’s proof of a bigger brain
“At the population level, our results suggest a selection of CASC5 in East Asian populations, which seems to favour a larger grey matter volume of the brain,” the researchers said in a paper published in the journal Human Genetics late last month. “By contrast, no signal of selection was detected in Europeans and Africans.”

“Precisely why this occurred is not entirely clear,” they added.

Besides climate, other forces that might drive such selection included social structure and cultural preference, Su told the South China Morning Post this week, while adding that such theories were pure speculation at this stage.

“Precise answers require further studies,” he said.

Su said the study in no way suggested that Asians were smarter than other humans.

“Scientific research has found no evidence, none at all, to support the existence of intellectual difference among races,” he said.

However, scientists generally agreed that humans had made significant sacrifices in return for increased brain size, Su said.

The brain consumed lots of energy, and a bigger brain made birth more difficult and drained resources from the rest of the body, resulting in many issues such as decreased physical strength. Europeans were generally bigger and stronger than Asians, Su said, but whether the physical difference was associated with brain size required further investigation.

Chinese scientists tackle conundrum of why humans are brighter than animals with bigger brains
“The Darwinian selection may still be going on today, but I think the brain size difference among races will eventually disappear due to the widespread genetic exchange occurring around the world today,” he said.

An anthropologist based in Beijing said the study tackled an important but sensitive issue in human evolution.

“The findings may fuel racist debate,” said the anthropologist, who requested anonymity.

Data in the study also showed a high frequency of genetic mutations occurring in South Asian populations, who lived in a warmer climate, and the anthropologist said it would be interesting to investigate whether Darwinian positive selection favouring bigger brains had also occurred there.

If so, it might suggest that brains grew bigger as humans spread further from Africa

Open letter by 750 historians saying trump should be impeached. I am begining to wonder if this boils down to these people not liking democracy. I am not a huge trump fan. I certainly support him over the dems but I'd rather we have someone else. That said this whole look at us we are law professor and not history professors and we can't trust the people to decide the election mentality is really irritating.

It's really very satisfying when you're playing close to your potential. I had not been doing so well lately, but tonight I got to indulge my ego a bit, if I'm being honest.
Last time I played I hadn't picked up a cue in probably more than a year. Broke and ran the first two racks. Reality set back in quick, but I'll always have that 5 minutes imo.

Hey @Lowmanproblems don't you live in Columbia? I need to get over there to Strawn Park to play the disc golf course, rated best in the world. One of you fucks is from Columbia. We will have a beer, whoever you are.

God damn you're probably the most retarded intelligent person ever.

Help. I'm at a free whiskey tasting and have to work in the morning
Eat shit drunkie, I just pulled an 18 hour day with almost no sleep on pain meds. It will put hair on your chest and make you taller. Or maybe shorter.

God damn you're probably the most retarded intelligent person ever.

Thank you for the compliment. As strange as that sounds it leads to my next point. I have a larger demonstrated background in constitutional law than over 90% of the law professors that signed the last open letter. I don't know much about these history professors but I would bet money that most of these guys are in the same boat. And this is the truth I have no idea whether Trump committed anything that deserves impeachment. I have a pretty cursory knowledge of what he did for one thing. Most of what I know about it I read here in the war room.

Look if he did something that makes him deserved to be out of office then get rid of him. But if he did the news is not exactly doing a very good job explaining that to the public. Something Ukraine something. The impression that I get and this could be completely off base is he is getting impeached because the Dems don't like Trump. And I see these statements and letters that boil down to me to say I know so much better than the public trust us this guy should go.

Well I a don't believe that most of these people actually know better than you or me. Being a historian or a law professor does not instantly translate into being a impeachment expert.

Assuming Trump has done something that makes him deserving of being removed from office then the Dems and all the assorted commentators and professors have done a extremely poor job of explaining what that is.

This from the law professor letter is not it

We take no position on whether the President committed a crime. But conduct need not be criminal to be impeachable. The standard here is constitutional; it does not depend on what Congress has chosen to criminalize.

That means nothing to me. Either the Constitution allows for the removal of the President because the House feels like it or you need to articulate something more than some nebulous constitutional law principle than would not win you a case in any trial court in this country.

We live in a republican democracy. If a elected official especially the President is removed from office the public needs to understand why.

And finally it just all feels so disingenuous to me. We know the Senate is not going to remove him so what is the point of all of this?

Climate Worship Is Nothing More Than Rebranded Paganism

https://thefederalist.com/2019/09/26/climate-worship-is-nothing-more-than-rebranded-paganism/

Lynn Townsend White Jr., an American historian from Princeton, wrote an influential essay in 1967, at the height of the cultural revolution in Western campuses, arguing that Christianity and Judeo-Christian values are responsible for ecological disaster and climate change. The essay, naturally, was adapted by generations after, ironically almost like a document of faith.

The central argument went like this. White argued, “The victory of Christianity over paganism was the greatest psychic revolution in the history of our culture. … By destroying pagan animism, Christianity made it possible to exploit nature in a mood of indifference to the feelings of natural objects.”

If nothing else, the last few days should be enough to prove that Western civilization, a product of more than 1,500 years of Judeo-Christian values, is facing its most significant and sustained challenge in centuries from tribalistic paganism, a force that seeks not only to turn back time but essentially to destroy the entire current edifice.

Greta Thunberg and the Church of Mother Earth
As secular liberalism destroyed the fundamental ties that bind society — faith, flag, and family — the human instincts for faith — to believe, worship, submit, and fear — didn’t just go away but manifested in various other pre-civilized tribal ways. For example, a liberal seminary encouraged its students to skip classes to pray and confess sins in front of potted plants. In Switzerland, 250 people in full funereal garb mourned the apparent approaching death of a glacier.

That is why members of “Extinction Rebellion” do what they do. Extinction Rebellion is an apocalyptic cult that wants to radically end every thing around you, from your private cars to the burgers you eat and the plastic chairs in your yard. It is a cult that was formed after its founder took psychedelic drugs and prayed for “social change.” Members have blocked D.C. and London intersections, “twerking” the way people in a pre-civilized era would perform a fertility dance to pray to Gaia.

And then there’s Saint Greta, our perpetual teen of sorrow. I have been comparing her worship to Joan of Arc ever since she was invited to the British Parliament, the birthplace of modern democracy. She was surrounded by buffoons nodding their heads like they were listening to gospel truth.

Lads, I hesitate to take credit for my predictions…I am magnanimous and noble like that…but this entire Joan of Arc thingy…you guys read it here, first.

"Climate Apocalypticism" is simply a paganist religion, with its own saints, sinners, and providential end. pic.twitter.com/YF5VmGfGVl

— Mr Maitra (@MrMaitra) September 22, 2019

I wrote about her long before the new woke-capital fanatics adopted her as a pawn. In a recent speech to the U.N., while clearly having an emotional meltdown, she told assorted leaders, voice trembling, that they have failed the children and history wouldn’t be kind. The “gatekeepers” immediately hailed her as a brave savior as well as a vulnerable, autistic teen who shouldn’t be bullied.

So, there you have it. Sexualized dances, psychedelic hallucinogens, worshiping nature, confessing sins in pagan animism, worshiping purified teen saints, and throwing them up on an altar, bereft of their childhood, to promote a greater cause. Add to that witches hexing Brett Kavanaugh, and having an Ouija board to invoke the spirit of Karl Marx, and everything old is new again.

The reality is, of course, completely different. Much less than destroying the planet, climate change isn’t even a settled science. Conservatives don’t disagree that climate is changing. That is a straw man. Conservatives, however, are opposed to hysteria, have skepticism about the rate of the climate change, and would like to see an actual cost-benefit analysis of the radical changes being demanded.

More important than that, conservatives understand that climate change is cynically used by a certain section of people to justify their political goals of steering the West away from its way of life, a way they perceive to be evil and harmful, hetero-patriarchal, and capitalist. How? Appealing to the faith-based part of human brains, the need for subservience, and propping up children as human shields.

The Left Created a Climate Crisis and Worships It
Consider a new letter by more than 500 scientists, which the mainstream media completely ignored. It urges the United Nations to have an open debate between scientists from both sides of the argument and states there’s “no climate emergency.” The report goes on to say, among other things:

The world has warmed at less than half the originally-predicted rate; Climate policy relies on inadequate models; More CO2 is beneficial for nature, greening the Earth; There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent; There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050.

In short, everything you’re being told is wrong or flawed, and you’re a chump who is being taken for a ride.

For all the Marxists’ faults, the old left at least wanted to conquer nature instead of turning subservient to it. Of course, that went to its own extremes, but one can imagine Joseph Stalin putting all twerking climate fanatics as mentally ill people in a forced labor camp to build railroads in Siberia. The current Chinese government, likewise, gives two hoots about climate change, and for all the bravery of Green Peace and St. Greta, there’s nothing they can do about China burning more coal than the rest of humanity combined.

The modern left is a combination of two of the worst impulses in human history. First are the ultra-privileged bourgeoisie, which, having lost their old Judeo-Christian faith, are instinctively attracted to pre-civilized rituals, from overt sexuality to fewer familial ties. Consider Late Roman public orgies, and you get an idea. At the same time, human minds feel a gaping void that still needs to be filled by an alternate faith. It is in that intersection where this occultist, apocalyptic climate paganism comes from. It gives some privileged people a noble purpose.

As French philosopher Pascal Bruckner wrote in his book “The Fanaticism of the Apocalypse: Save the Earth, Punish Human Beings,” the current movement has all the trappings of a religion: saints, sinners, a providential end, apocalyptic fear, punishment, and penance. It appears Emperor Constantine’s children clearly failed to civilize their future generations. The pagan barbarians from the north are back circling outside the citadel.

No I haven’t.

Did anybody catch the "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" skit on SNL this week?

First World Emergency in my household today, my espresso machine packed it in and parts won't arrive until mid-January.
I was jonesing just thinking about it.
So essentially I was forced to upgrade (though admittedly I only drink a couple of cups a day on these 40+ degrees Celsius days).

Apparently the solenoid on the three way valve seized, causing the pump to blow all the lines and rupture itself. Needs a new pump, new 3-way valve, all new seals and new lines.
Quoted $500 for repairs, but parts won't arrive until mid January, which is completely unacceptable (although I'll probably do the work myself and source parts online, which should bring it down to @$200).
Managed to pick up a Bezzera Galatea Domus for $1300, which was a great price, but the thing's massive and taken over the kitchen. Looked a lot smaller in the pictures.
My back wasn't particularly happy about carrying 27kgs of poorly balanced stainless Italian dining sculpture up the stairs.
It also seems to radiate heat like a 1000W bar heater.
Makes great coffee though.
