wtf is "maternity harassment"??
Taking time off after having the kid. Like, in Japan you stay in the hospital longer after giving birth so they can monitor health of mom and kid and try to help with any post-partum depression.

But maternity leave is shorter and people look at women who have careers that then get pregnant different. They view them as taking the spot in an office or business that could better be used by someone for the "good of the company" by someone that won't get pregnant.

Thanks, so basically just discrimination? I thought maybe they were doing some fucked up kinky shit to preggos on the subway.

I'm sure weird shit happens on the subway but it's more surrounded around the time taken off work. Part of it is your coworkers have to cover your shit and MOST Japanese offices the workers are ALREADY so overworked that any extra loud and they'll crack so it's a bit of a selfish "you fuck, now that you're gone or will be gone I have to cover your shit". From the people above you it's definitely the "that spot could be used by someone that isn't leaving cause of a kid"

wtf is "maternity harassment"??
Basically employers discriminating against mothers in their workforce. Refusing to renew their contracts, forcing them to come to work despite being deep in their pregnancy, and just generally being as inflexible as possible with mothers so as to discourage motherhood which is seen as detrimental to that employee's, and therefore the companies', production and efficiency. All that despite the laws that are ostensibly put in place to facilitate a balance between motherhood and a career such as maternity leave and support for child care.

Its capitalism vs patriarchy; the former tells women to focus on their careers while the latter tells them to have kids and be homemakers. You can see which is winning out with their plummeting birth rates.

You know I said the exact opposite right?

Saying that Japan does not have equal rights seems to me to imply that there is a difference in the rights afforded to men and women in the legal regime which is why I specified it that way. At least that's how I see it.
I see what you’re saying, but it also seems that you’re the only one saying it. That is, I saw it as a kind of moving of the goalposts by you to limit the discussion from any legitimate gripes to solely those imposed through laws.

Maybe you just wanted that narrow discussion and that’s fine, but perhaps others wanted the broader discussion.

Im saying that without having followed this whole conversation so take that “maybe” and “perhaps” literally. I’m not trying to call you out on anything. Maybe it was the other parties that moved the goalposts initially, idk.

Pretty good list. Once you get past the top 5-10 you're just gonna split hairs, though.
The only list that matters is George>Kramer>Elaine>Jerry

https://tall.life/height-percentile-calculator-age-country/

According to this the SD is 2.94

So 5'7.8" - 5'10.8" are within the "average" standard deviation making up 68.2% of American adult males

5'6.3 is the cutoff at 2 sigma for short, 6'2.4" is for tall
That’s all very interesting but the actual cutoff for “short” is shorter than I am, and for “tall” is taller than I am.

So I hate to break it to you bro but you’re a short manlet.

I specified more than once that the aforementioned grievances are not illegitimate merely because they emerge from private chauvinism and in fact I started this conversation with @Lord Coke arguing precisely the fact that Japanese and South Korean women have many legitimate grievances. Its just that when I speak of unequal rights I tend to think of that in the context of the state and the rights it guarantees and enforces and most of the grievances I was aware of weren't of that nature.

@Crazy Diamond provided just the example I was looking for when he pointed to a case of a high profile rape accusation with plenty of evidence behind it that wasn't taken seriously by authorities. In that case you see the state neglecting its duties in a way that disproportionately affects women.

You on the slightly shorter end as well?

@Lowmanproblems what say you to the methodology of manlet only beginning when one standard deviation from the mean height of American males? Or must your harassment of us completely average heighted but not gifted men continue?

Sub 5'10" is manlet everyone knows this. Why do you manlets get so defensive about it?

I'd find room for the Drake, Kenny, and Joe Davola in there.

No way Puddy is that high.

Right but that's still a grievance related to a private employer, not a right being deprived by the legal regime itself.

You know I said the exact opposite right?

I was afraid you'd ding me for making the same error as the replies by @Gregolian because I forgot to add that I think there are actual rights that are denied women but I can't say it's a fact so we'll set that aside for now.

On the other hand, I also wanted to add that things are improving albeit very slowly. I believe at some point there will be an uprising similar to the 60's/70's Womens Lib movement that greatly accelerates the transition. But not anytime soon, sadly. Whether by law or only as a societal norm, women are second-class citizens there, for the most part. After the war, the Americans imposed the drafting of a new constitution and with it, the granting of women's suffrage, IIRC, but then they fucked off (sound familiar? ;) ). All the same people were left in charge, i.e. the men, the women were given all kinds of lip service, and not even the good kind, and then they did fuck-all except for the bare minimum to avoid rioting, which in Japan, has historically been very little indeed hence the slow pace of change.

From a mathematical point of view, something like this,

I can be amenable to George=Kramer>Elaine>Jerry.

Kramer gets the most laugh out loud moments of the group and Michael Richards' physical comedy is beyond comparison. But George gets the edge because his character speaks to a shallow pettiness in human nature that no other character I've seen hits quite as perfectly.

Also surprised that @Trotsky doesn't like Mickey.

I do, I do. But I wanted to keep it at 15. After Mickey and Bania it gets real murky. Then you get into lame recurring characters like Peterman and guys that only show up a couple times.

No way Puddy is that high.

Should he be that high?

I've always found Kramer overrated. No issues otherwise.

Definitely brilliant physical comedy.
