Wanderlei Silva gets lifetime ban

I think a heavy financial penalty is more important. A lifetime ban was really the least they could do to get rid of this guy.

You also have to take into account the effects of thumbing their noses at the American athletic commissions and the detriments that would cause to their ongoing operations in the United States, and future dealings with said ACs.

This is the real world were dealing with here. I know perfectly well that they could.

What I am arguing is that they wouldn't. Because they are not stupid.

I've already acknowledged the issue with the comission several posts ago. It could pose a problem, but as I said they go way overboard with this stuff. A lifetime ban is just ridiculous. It has no merit whatsoever. Someone even mentioned earlier that not every comission would abide. Still a problem, for sure, and something to be kept in mind.

how is Wand not under UFC contract? Do you honestly think getting a termination of a contract (even if possible) takes 2-3 months lol. I'm sorry but the same applies to this. The UFC would file an Injunction and stop the fight.

I can't put it any simpler than that.

You don't seem to read posts entirely. I literally said Wand would no longer be under UFC contract. They can't hold him forever and if need be he could even resort to consignation of payment through court if for some reason they refuse to take his money and let him go. This is not too difficult to grasp but seeing as you voted on the lifetime ban as being just (checked it now) I'll no longer expect you to understand, no offense.

nsac is so corrupt and im sure Proximo (dana) had something to do with that after wands video

how does he get out of his contract? He retired so legally the contract freezes (see GSP) and even if you argue that he didn't officially retire then the indefinite suspension by the NSAC would essentially freeze his contract because the UFC would argue that they can't offer him a fight while suspended.

The only way he gets out of his contract would be to go to court and try that way.....which in the US and their ridiculously slow court system would take fucking years. thinking otherwise shows you clearly have no idea how the world works.

EDIT: read the link and tell me how long you think it takes Wand to win in court lol

The hypocrisy on this forum is ridiculous.

Look he's on drugs. We all know it. Everyone who was around to watch PRIDE knew that everyone was taking drugs.
We looked the other way.
Wand and everyone else from old Chute Boxe came to the UFC looking deflated. Shogun could barely get through a fight, Wand "mysteriously" lost 20 lbs.
We looked the other way.
Wand had 3 tries to make a fight, couldn't do it. Ran away from drug tests. Went on a bizarre youtube rant about the UFC.

Now you're not only looking the other way, you're taking his side because you like him?

Whatever. Either you're against drugs in the sport or you're not. He's been doing drugs for 10+ years and it finally caught up to him. He ruined his legacy and the punishment he's taking is designed to set an example. He retires in disgrace.

What? Sonnen flunks like 9 tests and he doesn't get a lifetime..

Before anyone tries to counter this with the usual "BUT HE NEVER FAILED A DURG TEST IN PRIDE!!"

Just know that the Pride contracts SPECIFICALLY STATED that they DO NOT drug test for steroids.

Yes you read that correctly.

the commission , I would like to know what they did for the sport!

wand has done way more than some brown nose dbag in a suit.

PRIDE ended 8 years ago. He never failed one in the UFC either (first or second time through). Say what you want, it's a first offense.

Got a link? Because the link you provided before proved you wrong and that you don't really know much about contracts and what they say.

look im very much against Ped's

but this seems harsh for a first offense.

should have been a 2year ban plus the fine.

and yes i do believe running or tryin to cheat a test should bring harsher penalties then just failing a test.

because not only did you knew you were gonna fail anyway but you actively and with intent tried to evade the results.

i mean be a man, you get caught own up to it and show the sport and the fans some respect.

these fighters talk about respect yet they act with no respect for themselves, the fans or the sport.

There are plenty of guys who never failed a test.

...right up until they did.

And pretty much all of them cooperated and took their punishments afterwards, instead of fleeing the country, accusing everyone else of being corrupt, and retiring out of spite.
