Television Walton Goggins

I was impressed that he was in The Hateful Eight with a bunch of more seasoned film actors and yet he knocked Tarantino dialog out of the park. The dynamic between him and Sam was a memorable part of that movie. Feel like Quentin must have been impressed by him, too, to work with him again after his small role in Django and give him a much larger role second time out.
He's really the kind of actor born to act in films scripted by Tarantino. Even in movies without Tarantino involved, he has a very Tarantino-esque aesthetic to his delivery.

Justified as Boyd Crowder is by far my favorite role of his so far. But I'm certain he will top it eventually.
Where as Timothy Olyphant will always be Raylan in my book, there's 0 chance he ever surpasses that run. Remember that terrible netflix show he did right after with Drew Barrymore? Yikes

Watch Justified if you haven't. One of the best non HBO series to ever air
Never try watching the Justified successor show with him again as Raylan. it is simply horrible in every aspect. The worst being his daughter who has zero acting talents but well Nepotism.

Preaching to the choir, I watched each terrible episode when it premiered each week. First episode in, nobody gets shot by raylan. Then the 2nd, then 3rd....
That's not fucking Raylan, that's not justifiable imo. Hated the bad guy dork too.

If anything, I revisit the last section of the last ep where Boyd gets out of prison and raylans phone keeps ringing and the episode ends without us knowing if he let it go to voicemail or answered it from time to time.

But yeah, just an abysmal let down

Yeah the Shield was great and Goggins did some great work in that show as 'Shane'. Don't miss it if you are a goggins fan

First thing I remember him in was Major League 3: Back to the Minors. Definitely did not see his career going in the directions it did.

His small role in Sons of Anarchy was hilarious as well.

Never been disappointed in him.

He and his acting foil in Justified, the show's protagonist, Timothy Olyphant, are both like this. Just goddamn show-stealers. Awesome in everything you see them in.

He also has a dope af house.

I think so too. I didn't watch the Netflix series. I did like Timothy Olyphant in the crazies though. And also in Deadwood I believe you were talking. And yeah Justified is as good as Walton Goggins has done. He was incredible in the and built for that role. But I think anything I've seen him in he pretty much steals the scenes. He's that good in his delivery

Goggins is arguably better in The Shield than in Justified, but the role is much, much darker. Caveat emptor, The Shield is brilliant but it isn't for everyone. Be prepared to hate just about everyone in that show, they don't sugar-coat anything or pander. I really need to revisit this show, but for reasons that will be obvious after you've seen it, it isn't a world I want to spend a lot of time in.

My Timothy Olyphant theory: He was so good as Seth Bullock in Deadwood, playing an obvious badass who never actually did anything badass, they adapted Elmore Leonard's novels to create Justified specifically with him in mind so we could see him menace AND kick ass.

If you're looking to see Olyphant in a different light, check this out. It's much better and more clever than the trailer suggests.

One of the only series I can think of too that has an absolutely stellar final season, including a great, fitting series finale.

"I could have run!"

I'm really excited to see the shield now. Seems like everybody in here is shouting praises. I had no idea Walton Goggins was even in that show until it was mentioned. I haven't seen him in anything that I didn't think he was great so I'm happy to find something else that he's done.

That's a good take on Timothy Olyphant as well. It seems to be similar in a lot of ways between Deadwood and Justified. And it seems right that it was taylor made for him.

I've never heard of highlife but it gets good reviews. Will have a look thanks. Some good input in this thread.

Yeah they had a misstep there. I hope they do bring back Boyd and some of the ideas that made the original show great. Will see

He has quickly become my favorite actor. I saw him first on Shanghai Noon and noted his accent wasn't fake. When you're from the south you typically can pick out when actors are sounding stupid making a Southern accent. Raised in Georgia hes got it. Then I saw him on Justified, Fallout, Vice Principles, Righteous Gemstones, White Lotus. To me the guy steals the show in pretty much whatever he's in. Anybody else like this guy?

Do you even fucking Shield bro?

Don't look up anything about it.
No reviews.
The Internet is dark and full of spoilers.
Go into it completely blind.
You will be hooked by the end of the 1st episode.
^
FUCKING THIS!!!!

Shield is my GOAT TV series. I can respect anyone who would say Wire or Sopranos is better because of taste, and even tolerate someone saying Breaking Bad...but that's it...

If you are a fan of good TV....don't miss the Shield.

Also, if you enjoyed most of Sons of Anarchy
..you should watch the Shield.

He was originally supposed to just be in the Justified pilot but he was so good as Boyd graham Yost decided to bring him back as a regular in the series. imagine if they had kept true to the original story that Leonard wrote.

There is a lot of his stuff that I haven't seen yet, but I've loved him in anything I've seen him in (Mainly The Shield). Definitely a special talent

First two films I saw Olyphant in were Scream 2 and Doug Liman’s Go. He was part of an ensemble cast in each but he made an impact. Scream 2, he has little to do for most of it and then gets to ham it up in entertaining fashion late in the film.

Go is just a fun movie. Among all those 90s trying-to-be-Tarantino-esque films, I think that’s a quite good one. And basically I’m just nostalgic of movies from that period when I was a kid/adolescent. It’s cool to revisit some of those.
