So, as a leftist, I don't think either candidate really represents what I actually want. The choice is between a center- right corporatist and a far right corporatist/fascist. This has essentially always been the case ti some degree (I don't think that the majority of pre-Trump Republicans were fascists, but they were undeniably corporatists), and I think it's unlikely to change at any point in the foreseeable future. I'm still voting for Harris.

As skeptical as I am of electoral politics in general, I still see the need to engage with it as a form of harm reduction. I don't think Harris will actually improve anything, but I'm pretty certain that Trump will make things worse. If nothing else, I think a Harris victory still allows people to organize and engage in mutual aid at a local level, whereas Trump will, without a doubt in my mind, crack down on grassroots organizing.

It’s not pointless. It is one way you can impact politics, albeit a small one.

While the electoral college makes your vote less impactful, it still counts.

And if you’re one of those “The dems and repubs are the same,” then you clearly have not paid attention to anything in the past 20 years.

Voting is pointless if it's rigged.

But they got to get rid of the electoral college vote count. That just silly.

Just go by who got the most votes in total and that's it.

it’s not pointless, but not everyone should be able to do it. at this point, our system needs a complete overhaul to preserve the integrity of the country.

I have never heard a good argument for why I should vote.

“It’s your civic duty”, not really, it’s not required.
“You are not participating in the democracy” im not participating anyways, my vote is meaningless, I’ve never seen a election get anywhere close to 1 vote mattering, better chance of winning the lottery.

Why should I take time to do something utterly pointless that won’t affect or change anything.

Now I can understand why you need to tell large number of people to vote, but personally on the individual single vote level, it’s stupid as hell.

I don’t vote, I think it’s the smart thing to do.

I do understand why it’s important to lie and tell people to vote and it’s important because the system breaks if everyone follow the same logic, however everyone knows, a single vote don’t mean shit.
Big politics are big game.
There are different levels where we might vote.
For example colleges does have student councils etc....
We had different election for dormitories council and here really each vote mattered a lot.
Elect some lazy persons and they will not care about any bare thing just to talk empty talks and doing absolutely nothing.
On small scale in small area it is really easy to tell why.
We had these elections without party lists ....for persons and despite voting was anonymous, in rare case students didn't had disclosed their favorite they had voted for and why.

Elections process imho should be not based on party lists but on individual basis....and judgement should be done based on real things person had did after had get elected.

Another problem is that some decisions are with long term effect and maybe you will taste effect only after xx years.

While to have dictator sometimes is very good till dictator is going out of shape. Best example is Russian Tzar Nicolas II.
He was not bad ruler at all, and still had weakness periods....depending from physical condition he had....
Even Lenin wasn't that bad at all. If he told that he will pay ...for example for transformators xxxxxx , he did this in time.
And reality was that verbal promise from Tzar Nicolas II or Lenin was more worth than any paper U.N had ever created.
When Stalin took office, all stuff signed on paper was lesser worth than used peace of toilet paper....in real life.
