Nono it shows that cutting height is a huge advantage similar to cutting weight.

It's incredibly hard to hit something so small standing and it's hard to wrestle a guy who can sneak out of your armpit.

Volk is overrated because being short is so op in mma. Look at the greats - DC, Mighty Mouse, Aldo. All short as fuck. Fedor? Undersized HW. GSP? He REFUSED to go down and fight a smaller man in Khabib at 155 or Conor at 145 or Mighty Mouse at 135. Anderson and Jones were tall sure, but that's why they needed steroids to compete against the best.

If I'm volk, I'm moving up to 170 or maybe 205 (since Izzy at MW) and cheating to get a double champ belt.

Pound-for-pound, I agree Volk is the better fighter.
(In other words, had the sizes been reversed, for sure Volk would have won.)

That said, within the actual 5-round timeframe, Makhachev "beat" Volkanovski ...

PS: I also believe that Volk's resurgence, at the end of the last round, made me believe Volkanovski would have beat Makhachev in a fight with no time-limit.

PSS: I understand what you're saying, I think Volkanovski is the better man, all nuances considered.

Rewatch it again. Wasn't a robbery but Volk did a great job and might have won had there been a 6th round.

Volk definitely won. The disadvantage he had going up in weight and doing what he did, is all a win. Islam winning the 4th by hugging his legs around volk's back is not aggression, especially when he's eating punches. and then volk's 5th round dominance where islam conceded the takedown and rolled to his back and ate GNP says everything. i hope they fight again. p4p #2 baby.

Was a good, competitive fight though.
Sure he ended the fight in spectacular fashion. But winning one championship round isn't enough.

To me, Islam won "the MMA fight" ... we agree here ... but (IMO) Volk won THE BATTLE ...

In other words, Islam left the fight diminished, despite the win ... whereas Volk came out enhanced, despite the loss.
