Media Volkanovski walk around weight is more than Poirier and same as Islam

This is a real case of David vs Goliath ts.

You know what if he wants to believe they're the same size let him. I'm sure Islam is coming for that fw belt lmao.

Obviously Islam is just a small LW, he is actually the same size as MM.

The denial about Khabib and Islam's size seems infinite.

They`re same size as other LW, this notion that Khabib and Islam are the biggest LW is stupid.

RDA weight was 195 when he was the LW champion

Michael Chandler walk around 190.

Benson Henderson 190.
Henderson said he cuts from “a little too much” to make the 155-pounds-on-the-dot required as champion of the lightweight class. How much, he doesn’t say. The impression he gives is severe, like he’s starting from north of 190 pounds. A source close to him said the process is less a taper than a crash, with the cut starting at around 178 pounds and the majority of the weight coming off in the 36 to 48 hours before a fight.

Charles Oliveira 183-185

Islam 183-184

Rafael Fiziev 185

Khabib 185. This was three years ago.

Gaethje i think is maybe 180 but cant confirm it and Poirier have to be the lowest LW.

BTW Khabib made weight both time he fought at Abu Dhabi so stop the BS.

taking a fighter's weight when they're not in the cage makes no sense

i only recently got back in the gym after some pretty serious injuries and i put on 3kgs in two days

it's not that i added that much muscle and fat it's just ive crammed 3kgs more stuff in my digestive track because im lean bulking and im kinda bloated

Short notice guys are most likely going to lose. I pity anyone still paying to watch these fights...smh

And Poirier was saying 190 on Joe Rogan Podcast so never trust him

Even if they lose,it dont mean it aint gonna be worth the watch.

I never said they weren't the same size as other LWs. Nor did I say there aren't any other big LWs. However walk around weight isn't really the best indicator for how big they are in the cage. Some put a lot more weight on and have to lose it again, in between camps, than others.

And here is Khabib saying he was around 190 when he was an active fighter.

https://bloodyelbow.com/2022/09/14/khabib-nurmagomedov-diet-200-pounds-drink-pepsi-mma-news/

But self-reported weights aren't that reliable to begin with. Really struggling to make weight is much more telling about the limits of someone's body size in the context of MMA competition.

I think you missed the point of my comment. It was meant to imply that it's easier to make weight in Abu Dhabi for them, so yeah obviously he made weight those times.

Also, I assume you started making this post before my edit. Or maybe you erased that part from my post.

Another thing, my comment about the denial being infinite was supposed to show the fatigue the subject had for me. It's a never ending discussion, so you didn't have to start a whole long post about it, because that's the last thing that interests me. However, I like you as a poster, so I will still take the time to give you a serious reply. But lets not continue this subject that has been done to death, on here.

So 185 to 190, just like HHJ said.

Maybe, but to me around 190 sounds more like sometimes a little under 190, sometimes a little over 190 and therein between.

Those are still self-reported weights, at least the few that I checked. That's not exactly reliable info to me. Not that it isn't interesting though, but I do take them with a grain of salt, generally

I'm fucking stoked for this weekend!! Such a big card and on a Euro friendly time too! ¡Me gusta! Gonna make an awesome watching experience out of it. Hope you'll have a great time too, bud!:)

Just to add: Volkanovski has reach advantage over Islam. I hate the narrative that Volk is some scrawny little midget featherweight daring to go up to lightweight to fight giants when he's as heavy as them with just as big of a reach. It's easy to be brave when you have the reach of an ape. Volk aint no DC.
I think that's a narrative you made up in ur head

The thing is,if a fighter doesnt want people to know what their weight is,they would just decline to inform.
Oscar De Lahoya famously never wanted to reveal what his weight was on fight night so he wouldnt answer that quesiton. I dont think that any of these guys are lying about their weights on fight night. They dont have to say anything at all if it means that much to them that they dont want people to know. Khabib rehydrating from 155 to 176 lbs is not some kind of impossibility. Why would he lie about gaining back 22 lbs? What is there to gain?

There isnt any reason to lie

Islam is a liar. There are pictures with him next to Usman. He isn't 180lbs for his walking weight.

The thing is,if a fighter doesnt want people to know what their weight is,they would just decline to inform.

But if the public is already running with their own narrative, a fighter might want to combat that. Saying nothing can still be interpreted as an admission of 'guilt' by many fans.

Different people handle things differently.

I dont think that any of these guys are lying about their weights on fight night.

Some people will lie about the most insignificant shit, so I see no reason why this would somehow be the line drawn in the sand where nobody lies about it.

They dont have to say anything at all if it means that much to them that they dont want people to know. Khabib rehydrating from 155 to 176 lbs is not some kind of impossibility.

I never said it's impossible. Doesn't mean it's the truth though.

It doesn't always have to be a lie. Fighters could also give out a number at a certain moment in time, but after it, they could still be rehydrating and put on more weight. If they don't clearly state it's not just before going into the cage, people might still assume it is the weight they step into the cage with.
