Volk ran. Biased commentary

Volk is old and used to be great…..guys like that are allowed to do what they gotta do for a win lol
 
the fight reminded me of Diaz vs Carlos, Volk ran the whole fight, would stop throw a barrage of pitty patter strikes and then run again. Worst decision I’ve seen in ten years.

I think Volk won, but how did you not give Diego the 4th and 5th?

5th seemed super obvious for Lopes. He was literally chasing him down.

4th seemed pretty obvious too. Poke or punch, he hurt Volks eye and had him retreating for the last 2.5-3 minutes. Volk was returning fire, but was getting hit a good bit more.

Even with the refusal to stand & trade the last minute, Volk clearly won the 5th. I do agree that Lopes won rounds 2 & 4 though.

Lopes may have been able to press forward & rock Volk; but he was unable to win exchanges & him rocking Volk only happened twice. Honestly wasn’t a robbery and I think Volk didn’t throw leg kicks like he’s capable of when able to dictate the range. Volk could actually piece him up better in a hypothetical rematch, too fast and leg kicks completely negates Lopes power advantage at Boxing range.

4th was debatable but I scored it for Lopes
 
I can see how one might give Lopes rounds 2 4 and 5. the Commentary was VERY biased, not too far off but they were biased a lot of the time they traded and both landed they'd remark about volk landing but it wasn't often they mention the trade that occured

I will very happily admit that he ran/ coasted big time in the latter half of the 5th round, but he beat the shit out of Lopes for the rest of the fight (other than the 2 brief moments where he got clipped).
 
You would assume the taller, longer and faster fighter would have trained cut off the octagon
 
where're those people that pretended that Top left the division to run from Lopes?
 
It was the only way he could reliably avoid being finished, let alone win. Each time he tried to put more pressure or get into prolonged exchanges he took damage, sometimes significant damage. He's not as fast as he used to be, and it'll take time to adjust his style to compensate for that. He phoned this one in a bit but as a long-time champ who has given us some great fights and is trying to spring back from some nasty losses, I'll not rake him over the coals for it.
 
Volk fought like a champ and put on a performance.

Commentary was garbage though.

Diego just went in there looking for a finish, Volk went in there looking to point fight. Scores were correct but it’s still a shitty mentality to have and should not be celebrated.

Well yes, hes the shorter fighter. It would only make sense, he fought exactly like he had to and he did a spectacular job.... spectacular!!
