Volk benches 275lb 1 rep max

Then we agree, and I have no idea why you're so insistent on arguing something I'm not. You've spun up some bizarre debate in your head that has nothing to do with anything I've said or the points I've actually made, and you keep arguing it even though you've just said we're on the same page.

we're not

I was saying the bench sucks for martial arts

You went ahead and said good athletes are prone to be better lifters

I don't disagree, but your statement has nothing to do with anything

It's crazy y'all don't realize that's 275 AUSTRALIA weight.

NOT American.

It's 572 American weight.

You clearly never trained it. Judo is very useful. Especially Judo from the time of Dan Severn who had a lot more throws allowed in its repertoire compared to now.
I was half trolling there, I actually like judo quite a bit though I never have really had the chance to train it.

But I do think it's fair to say that most high level judoka that transitioned to mma had pretty underwhelming results (Satoshi Isshi comes to mind) and the ones that found success were known as heavy handed brawlers or control oriented grapplers and never really submissions (I'm only considering men's mma).
Pretty sure you're trolling...

but Dan Severn was a high level wrestler + judoka
outweighed Royce by around 70 fucking pounds

Ken Shamrock, like it or not, was one of the pioneers of submission fighting for the american audience

etc etc. Royce never outweighed his opponents
ate fruit dinners, only used bodyweight exercises, and rolled jits

I'll repeat it again just in case you're fully retarded.
Weight training has its place in all sports. 100%.

I was arguing that the bench press sucks balls for martial arts, and you went ahead and made up an argument with yourself
Do you realize how dumb it is to bring up Royce Gracie regarding almost anything modern mma related?
Babe Ruth was overweigh and drank frequently, running backs in the 30's ran 4.8's, when sports are in their infancy you can get away with a lot.

And you quite literally said strength training may or may not help in an earlier post. Then named off pull-ups, squats and deadlifts as not helping. Then said the top WR's in the NFL don't run the fastest 40's (They do, or are in the top 10%). Then mentioned bjj as if there's not fucking crazy rampant doping at all levels of that sport.

Oh man that means most of sherdog can kick his ass - everyone knows if you bench a lot you cannot lose in a fight.

I did that in my mid twenties. Weighted 145 and worked up to maxing 275. I was just a nobody pyramiding sets once a week.

It's a good for a lifter at his bodyweight, at a walkaround weight at 170 that is 1.62x his bodyweight so it's respectable. Bench is the least beneficial of the big 3 athletically and I rarely see any fighter go past 315, so I don't see the benefit of going too high besides for the ego.

That's a fine lift to keep for maintenance, he can get more out of other lifts for MMA for the time he would have to spend maxing out his bench.

IQ level detected

I said bench pressing and super heavy squats don't equate to athletic prowess in combat sports. Then I rattled off a bunch of strength exercises that I believe are conducive.
I refuse to reiterate every single detail that you failed to read and comprehend. You have my permission to proceed arguing with yourself.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

This guy think Alex benches 572lbs

He also calls the metric system Australian weight

HORRRRY SHIEEEEEEEET

It's almost like this Geralt character is a lying piece of shit. Keep in mind, it's not just him that was putting up these numbers, but like half the guys he knew. Just an entire class of kids, all in the top 0.1% of the planet. LOL. They just eat 11,000 calories a day at lunch, and lift Dodge Rams in gym class, and then murder every team in the tri-state area at football every Friday night.

TOTALLY.

Almost right?....

I thought everything was opposite in Australia?

The toilets flush in the opposite direction.

Maybe I'm confused.

He's right tho, it's 572 Australian pounds. Do they not teach kids this stuff any more?

Sherdog is becoming more ridiculous every day … “very average” … “not a good number” … “I can do more” … “just ok for a normal gym guy” … he’s benching 125kg, that’s more than most people in any gym - who are likely much bigger than little Volk and focused only on lifting - and especially that’s almost double his bodyweight, for an athlete who does not train powerlifting or bodybuilding but rather cardio and technique! It’s super impressive!

Please post your videos benching close to double your bodyweight. Ah yes, you don’t have any.

I can bench 100kg at a bodyweight of 78kg and as a martial artist - so not a lifter per se - I’m usually among the stronger people under 80kg bodyweight in any gym … and Volk does 25% more at 5% less bodyweight. He’s really strong in general and especially as a martial artist.
You can pretty quickly tell actual lifters vs not.

90-100lbs over body weight is better than prob all but 5-10% of the entire planet. And dudes a fighter, not a powerlifter lol

What about OHP for martial arts? Just curious. I've seen MT guys do seated OHP quite frequently at my gym.

most of the HW's cant even do that let alone this little man. Much respect to volk man

Yeah 275 is honestly fuck all to reach. Anyone with decent-ish genetics should be able to hit that, and go a fair bit further, if they train seriously and do everything correctly .
