Volcano (1997)

Anne He he ruins everything she is in. Tommy Lee Jones is the most one dimensional actor ever. The movie was typical popcorn light fare. Fun fact, the little girl grew up to be a weirdo SJW Hipsterette that does full frontals and exposes prehistoric sized Bush.
I don't know what else Anne Heche has been in, but I won't argue with you that her acting sucks in this movie.

just checked out that girl's bush too, I see your point but I don't have a problem with natural women personally

She is the number one impediment to being able to regularly rewatch Donnie Brasco.

Only seen it once and I have no memory of her (I am lucky right?) but it wasn't a movie I liked because the whole plot was spoiled for me by the trillions of Donnie Brasco references after it came out. Thanks for the heads up, I might've considered watching it again someday and now I definitely won't haha

And Planet of the Apes. This can’t just be coincidence.
lol

checked his IMDB page and learnt they're doing a movie for the Deadwood series!

I knew it was being considered years ago but glad to see it's finally been greenlit.

So on to the ending (or the end of the dramatic part at least)

I wasn't a big fan of the "epic" slow motion scene with Tommy Lee sprinting to save the girl and the snot nosed brat especially as the solution they came up with worked but in the scene itself looked like it would've made no difference lol

I can't think of a better disaster movie off the top of my head, going to check a few lists though to be sure.

I'm giving it an 8/10 which might seem a bit high but I thoroughly enjoyed it, plus it wasn't overly cheesy.

I have it on dvr and am watching it now, actually.

Has this built you up to watch Twister next?

I'd need to rewatch Pompeii (2014) and San Andreas (2015) to see how they stack up against it, I can barely remember either. I couldn't sit through 2012 (2009) and I don't think I've checked out The Day after Tomorrow (2004) though presumably those last 2 movies are about all the elements.

Dante's Peak or GTFO.
You're really recommending it? I might watch it next to compare seeing as they both came out in the same year

Might have to reduce my score to a 7 because of the script, just read a review that was too accurate to ignore lol

San Andreas is the best disaster movie around, seen 5 or 6 times.

dang this ain't for the faint hearted

it's like a horror movie haha
The other scientist’s death in the tunnel, the subway guy on the train and the fireman burning up in the crashed truck are as brutal of deaths as I can remember in a popcorn disaster movie

I'm probably remembering it wrong due to Decades of Repressed Trauma but it feels like the guy in that subway burns to death on camera for 20 minutes

I wonder if Tommy Lee Jones was born looking old

It was really odd seeing him young when I watched Coal Miner’s Daughter recently. He’s in his early 30’s here

If you watch Volcano and Mimic back to back you will fear subway systems for the rest of time
