I'll say it again...

Wash your hands for 20 seconds

Don't just randomly touch your face

If you feel sick, stay home

If you feel worse, put on a mask and go to the doctor

If someone looks sick, avoid them

Eat healthy, drink fluids, and be safe.
Great advice wonder why China is having such an issue smfh, sounds like a Trudeau health advisory...

Friends in Hanoi are very worried about this. I've heard it's worse than the media is allowed to report.

My brother in Nanjing is planning to just stay insid for the forseeable future.

Wuhan City, in China, has 11,000,000 people. How can the coronavirus be contained in such a large population?
I'm sure the Chinese are 'fudging' the real numbers.

Pretty normal. Last year at Wal-Mart two people died in line ahead of me. A Haz Mat team showed up to inspect the body. The first had died from dehydration from being in line so long so they just left her there, but the second died of the common cold. As a precaution, they burnt the body on the spot and killed the people directly ahead of and behind the guy in the line and burned their bodies as well. The cashier too. Luckily, I had my groceries divided by one of those little plastic sticks on the conveyor belt, so everything was cool. The lady behind me was visibly shaken and I was like, 'Don't worry, it's just the cold going around.'

I need to go to bed, because I had to read this a couple of times before getting it.

That's how they handle the common cold where I'm from too.

Published in The Lancet

A new study suggests that official figures for the scale of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak have been far too low.

The study, published in the prestigious Lancet journal, projected that as of January 25, there were 75,815 people infected in Wuhan. At the time the official figure was 761.

The true number of people infected with the deadly Wuhan coronavirus is more than 75,000, according to a scientific model, which claims the official number for those infected is far too low.

Academics at the University of Hong Kong published a paper on Friday in The Lancet, a prestigious medical journal, estimating the rate at which the virus is spreading.

It used official data on the number of infections to calculate what it said was the true extent of the disease — almost 100 times the official figures.

Hey! The rule of 100 strikes again.

All german infected are apparently in really good condition.
Weaksauce Virus.

Mortality rate at 2%
SARS had 10%
MERS had 34%

Is this virus one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse? What I am hearing from the medical establishment is not good and the spread is rapid and not in the US but in many parts of the world. The economic impact could be huge way beyond many rosy estimates of people who really do not have a clue. In a few weeks it went from a few hundred to 10's of thousands and climbing far more rapidly then people in advance positions have thought.

Asia is the only overpopulated continent, maybe its mother nature restoring balance.

This is only the onset of what is far from over. Others we had months of time to develop this is only a short time frame.

"The death toll in China from the deadly coronavirus outbreak that originated in the central city of Wuhan, rose to at least 361 on Monday, as the Philippines became the first country outside China to confirm a death from the infection."

"
The total number of people infected with the virus rose to 17,205 across the country, after 2,829 new cases were reported.

Other countries have rushed to evacuate their citizens from Hubei province and its capital city, Wuhan, while many have also imposed extraordinary travel restrictions on travellers to and from China.

About 150 cases have been reported in two dozen other countries.

Here are the latest updates:"

Between the delayed reaction of the Chinese authorities and its incubation period of 10 to 14 days (some think it's up to 28 days), the infection rate isn't going to be linear imo. So the people saying it "only" has a 2% mortality are off the mark due to the possibility of such a significant number of infected.

Then again I could be talking out my butt as this topic isn't in my wheelhouse.

There's lots of working class and poor people in developing countries who don't eat all the crap that is eaten in China, and consequently they aren't keeping bats, ducks, pigs, civets and all manner of wild animals together where all the body fluids and animal waste is mixing and getting into contact with humans.

I am European, and studied European history in detail.
Even in the worst famines in the middle ages, people in Europe did not eat things like bats or snakes.
(They stuck to a vegetarian diet and sometimes even ate their leather boot sole, but never things like that).
There's a definitely cultural element to this. No European would bite into a live rat even under the worst famine.
Rats were indeed eaten during war time, but a butcher would cut all the meat and grill it in ways that would suggest steak.

Chinese are horrendous on another level. And I wonder if its an ethnic Asian thing or just a mainland Chinese thing due to decades of Maoist dehumanisation.

Guy who died in the Philippines was 44, doesn't seem like the age of people I expected to die.

Current mortality rate is about 65% of the recovery rate.

Eating rat isn't weird. Many different countries and cultures eat it.

I've had rat several times myself in Thailand. It actually tastes very good. They sell it BBQ on the roadside in the north east.

I also had Cuy in Peru last year, which is a guinea pig.

EDIT: just watched the video, they are alive? Lol okay, that's a bit strange. Chinese are obsessed with freshness of food and eat a lot of shit alive

I was thinking something more like this

I know you're Asian but in all honesty, 99% of the world considers this unacceptable behavior.
It isn't just "a little weird". It's behavior showing subhumanity.

Hey! The rule of 100 strikes again.

the way that rule began, I figured it was just a joke. And people just claimed it was from Chinese people, just to enforce their own views.

bit holy hell, it actually seems to have turned out to Be true.

Can any tell me joe this diseas kills? Line Ebola is awful, I Understand how it kills.

But how does this? Just stressed out the body too much and you shut down?

I'm not asian and you need to get out and see the world more. I don't think you know much about "99% of the world"

So I hear 11 US cases now. Interested to see how they manage.
