International Virus outbreak in China (and elsewhere)

Good lord, I just caught the tail end of a report on the radio that said a computer model showed that if this virus went full pandemic it could mean 65,000,000 dead. We might be due as well, the last big one was Spanish Flu from 1918-1920 so its been 100 years since a large scale pandemic has happened.
 
Yeah, too much coming out of China on a internet China has complete control of, for this to not be the disaster we are seeing glimpses of.

I don't like to assume a whole lot, but I think it is safe to assume that the Chinese government is lying, and that if they told the truth, Chinese society would begin to melt down in the next few weeks, and the world would be freaking the fuck out.

Sounds like the real numbers are more than 100,000 infected, and 1,000's dead.

I now officially agree with those saying all flights from China should be banned, and a call for all countries to do the same.

Let's add all shipping containers should be decontaminated on arrival.

Yep, if I was betting the over under on 50,000,000 dead, I would bet the over.

Quarantine, flight bans, ect. are probably pointless.

I can't confirm but my wife just said she saw on Facebook that the number infected in China could rise to 190,000 as soon as the next week. There has been cases reported in multiple countries already so I'm not sure it isn't already too late, maybe it can still be contained mostly in China but I don't know. It seems like it is spreading really fast to other countries. Reminds me of some 12 Monkey's shit.
 
Has anyone here tried to go to YouTube and find these videos?

YouTube is completely controlled now like the MSM.

Twitter is the last bastion of real news.

It would be great if we could all stop pretending that China is the only one controlling the flow of information.

We are lucky it wasn't SARS that jumped to human to human spreading. That had a 11% fatality rate. There would be bodies piled like a mountain in every major city with that kind of fatality rate.

That’s assuming you believe the 3% mortality rate. And most reports this is a mutated SARS.

You guys sound as depressing as a kid with down syndrome at a MENSA gathering.

Virus genome got mapped a week ago, and US companies were just a few months away from coming up with a vaccine. The world has plenty of infection control data on SARS, Ebola and MERS from years of research. Hell even China was reported to have managed to isolate the virus from host and selecting strains for vaccine testing. We must look like Star Trek in terms of technology to people during 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak. If that didn't wipe us out, this one sure as shit ain't gonna.

It's a serious crisis that will have a huge socio-economic impact on the world, particularly China. Obviously the death toll will be high from the number of infected, but this isn't some apocalypse scenario. I am even willing to predict the final tally will be less than 6,500 dead from flu in US alone this year.
 
The major problem is the Chinese have this belief in order to get rid of a virus or cold from your body you must spread it to another human being. Its why this shit is an epidemic.

The Korean and Japanese do not have that belief and are different when sick they will wear masks and try to avoid getting others sick.

Many of The chinese travelers from the mainland to California will spit on the floor, in the store, in the casino floor sneeze on you and even sneeze on food in the buffet. Everytime I would go to Chinatown I would wind up with a cold or flu.

They need to issue a travel ban asap.

With a population of 8 billion people, it's a slight dent. But it does bring home just how fragile life is, and I think we've largely forgot that, especially in the wealthy parts of the world.

With a 2% death rate that's skewered towards the elderly and already sick, it doesn't even match the rate the global population is growing even if every person on earth is infected. As cruel as it sounds, disease is nature's way to weeding out the weak and unproductive. It's a terrible thing for me to say, but sometimes we have to look at things without emotions involved.

Where at all do you get this from? I see Chinese people with masks far more than any other group. Saw multiple Chinese people in downtown Chicago with masks on, no other demographic
 
As expected its being blown out of proportion.

The flu has a far higher death rate and we all get it.
 
When the US comes up with the cure - the Chinese will steal it.
