Fine, original bet stands. No more chickening out though. It's unbecoming.Exactly, that's what I'm saying. The original bet should still stand.
This guy is in la la land. Oh well, he wants to welch, I can't stop him.
Ngannou has waaaaay less harmonious relationship with the UFC brass than Gane, prior to winning the belt.I doubt it will impact the fight much. Francis is training hard still. The better man will win.
Gane is definitely more hungry right now, but if he wins the UFC will start lowballing him and he’ll be in the exact same boat Ngannou is.
Fury vs. Wilder. It's such a strange fight, because Gane just seems like a better fighter in so many aspects, yet Ngannou still has that power to wreck people. I have no doubt that if this kind of match up was at MW, Gane would breeze with ease. But there's two things that come into play when you have Ngannou's Ford Escort energy.
1) Ngannou has a bigger allowance for error. Gane has to have a perfect fight where Ngannou doesn't. All Ngannou has to do is touch Gane once. And I really don't see Gane pressuring Ngannou in a way that will slow him down either.
2) Ngannou's power gives him a huge mental edge. His opponents have to do way more adjusting and planning, to then be forced to think and second guess their choices during the fight. Looking at the Overeem sequences, you could see by his approach and the way he moved he was worried and apprehensive about engaging with Ngannou's power, making him fight in a way he normally wouldn't.
Gane by all means is technically the "better fighter", but Ngannou still has the high ground here. Like, make a human fight a bear. Bears don't need technique.
A little different in boxing though, considering larger gloves, ten counts, and stricter ruleset.Fury vs. Wilder.
Technique vs. Power at HW.
You get your answer
A little different, and a little similar.A little different in boxing though, considering larger gloves, ten counts, and stricter ruleset.
Bear are actually very technical when they fight. It's such a strange fight, because Gane just seems like a better fighter in so many aspects, yet Ngannou still has that power to wreck people. One I can think about is Chris Weidman who resign after winning against SilvaHas it ever worked with fighters who fight out their contract to renew with a bigger, much fatter paycheck? Feels like they always trip on the finish line. I know it's one of many UFC related curses and those are to be taken with a bath of salt but still...
Bear are actually very technical when they fight.
They have good understand of Greco wrestling (underhook throw hip throw) and jiujitsu (guard, passing the guard ,retain guard underhook and stand up)
If he wins, he defends against Jon Jones, which he's long wanted to do, makes a whole lot of money, and, win or lose, will then get a huge Bellator offer for something in the vicinity of what he's worth. No matter how this fight ends, its not good for Francis. If he wins, his contract states that he must defend his belt.
Honestly, I hope Gane wins, so I can't argue too much for Ngannou. Much of what I love about MMA are watching feats of technique triumphing over strength. But at the same time, just feels like Gane needs a perfect night to win this one, where Ngannou doesn't. Could be wrong... hope I'm wrong.A little different, and a little similar.
my adrenaline gland (if that’s a real thing lol)
Fearless mindset. Hasn’t lost yet - it’s worked for him.
