How was she exposed? Sure, I think she's probably a bit overrated but she is damn good, just incredibly boring. No one in her division stands a chance and that's not primarily due to Valentina, it's because the division sucks. I'd expect her to knock girls out left and right considering the opponents she's facing are on a pretty low level.

Valentina isn't the best grappler or bjj gal in the female game, someone with superior skills in those areas who can negate her stand up has a chance, that has always been the case. Of course finding that person is a problem.

Folk who denigrate flyweight really haven't been paying attention, this isn't 2017, the division gets stronger all the time and is beginning to rival 115 as the best female division.

Also how can you say Nunes is easily better when she at best won a controversial decision over Shev as a much bigger fighter?

She has one dud against Carmouche. Every other title fight has been entertaining enough. Her and Nunes have the same amount of stoppages in their last 6 fights

Maia would eat a four punch combination, flush, and clip Valentina with a hook on the exit and all you'd hear would be Joe gushing about her having Valentina figured out, as if losing an exchange 4 to 1 is a winning proposition.

That might be part of why people might think that was more competitive than it was.

Kind of like in the first Machida/Shogun fight, where Joe was so busy jizzing himself over every leg kick that he'd completely ignore Shogun getting countered with a punch in the face, leading people to think that was a blowout instead of a closely contested fight.

Yep, she was strong as hell, and a BJJ black belt, and was doing a good job trying to keep the fight in her wheelhouse. She deserved to be there and made Valentina really work to take those rounds, which were closer than we're used to seeing. It was impressive, but anyone listening to Rogan would think she was winning standup exchanges when she was getting her face rearranged.
