I heard someone propose a 3 year spread rule starting at 13. Sounded reasonable.

I was banging at 15 and friends were doing it at 13-14. We know kids are fuckin. We just don't want em fuckin adults. A 13 and a 16 year old? Meh. A 15 and an 18 year old? Meh. An 18 and a 13 year old? Ughhhh... stretching it there. I don't feel like that's okay - but girls mature faster than boys.

Nope. Judges ALWAYS had discretionary power. They just only had it for men who had vaginal sex with minors. It was amended to include anal and oral. It expanded the scope of mandatory sex offender registration as determined by judges.

Not sure who you think had that power beforehand. But it's an aspect of sentencing which is always at a judge's discretion.

I remember when people would condemn this sort of behavior by a politician, but everyone has been gas lighted by social media, there first reaction is to deflect, Dodge, dip, Duck and deflect. Utah has been very shaky on age of consent and penalties for minor sex crimes for a long while. Even more than blue states with scores of with Soros DA’s and judges.

I’ve frequently complained about awful stories out of Utah with seemingly no real penalty. About a year or two ago they said they were going to stiffen the laws around this stuff after a real outrageous minor sex crime ended up with not even a slap on the wrist..and I don’t even think that person was connected. I can see not much came of it.

It was always mandatory for the gays and judge discretion for normal sex. They changed it so it become discretionary for everyone. Therefore reducing the amount of people having to register.
