Rumored Usyk vs Wilder - April/May in the US

nonsense. It's just that pitter patter phase where a bunch of names get tossed around

Yeah and he clowned him. A 12 round fight would look exactly the same, usyks gas tank is even better than big Joe’s, and it’s still the most interesting of the other 2 options. I think Warren will likely match up fury and Joyce next so I doubt usyk gets to fight him first

It's not comparable... Joyce is bigger today.

Usyk is favored since he already beat him and is the current champ, but you can't really know for sure until the fight happens.

Also, the fight was in 2013 while Joyce started boxing at only 22 years old and he was only 27 years old at that time with only 5 years of boxing experience.

On the other hand, Joyce is getting old now (37 years old).

So Usyk is obviously favored and should win by decision, but until the fight happens it remains speculation.

Joyce is much heavier nowadays, and has more experience, but he's largely the same fighter he was back then. He's still limited, terrible defensively, slow as molasses, and a plodder. Styles make fights and we've already seen that Usyk's style is his kryptonite. The fight might go a bit differently, especially since it'd be a 12 rounder, but it's highly unlikely that Joyce prevails. As Jonny said Usyk has the better gas tank, he's more than durable enough to take Joyce's best shots, and stylistically he's all wrong for him. Usyk would be expected to UD him again. Age-wise they're only like a year apart. They'll have their rematch because Joyce is his WBO mandatory. My money is on Usyk putting on a boxing clinic again. I think Joyce will definitely have his moments but so did Joshua.

Indeed you're right, they have almost the same age and i agree that Usyk should win by decision.

However, he doesn't fight like Joshua, he keeps coming forward until the end of the fight... on the other hand, i think Joshua hits harder than Joyce.

In my opinion, still not an easy fight for Usyk, even if he should be obviously favored.

Yeah, Usyk manager said he believes outside of Fury, Joyce is toughest fight for Usyk right now.

It's Wilder in my opinion, because winning a decision against a power puncher is always dangerous.

But i could be wrong though.

Wilder has never had a big fight outside of US and problem is he is not even a big draw in the US. Only hope I had was some interest the Saudi prince could have after I saw Deontay ringside for the Jake Paul fight. But Wilder is with PBC and I can't remember Haymon co-promoting business with the Saudis ever. They're pretty conservative about keeping their fighters in their backyard.

Nobody would expect Usyk to negotiate with Wilder right now. At the moment he's actively negotiating with Dubois. The only way he'd be able to fight Wilder next would be to request an exemption with the WBA. I'm not sure they'd even give him one after the Fury negotiations delayed their order for as long as it did. As for Wilder, I don't think he'd have to travel for Usyk. They'd likely fight in the US so Usyk could look to make a bigger name here. Most of his biggest wins have come in his opponents' backyards so I don't see it being any different if he fights Wilder.

Can Wilder/Usyk generate 100 million $ in the US. I highly doubt it. It's a high risk low reward fight for Usyk.

No. I don't think it could. Yeah it's definitely a very high risk and low reward fight for Usyk but if Fury won't fight him, and Fury beats Joyce, then Wilder would be the biggest name opponent available for Usyk to fight since we already saw him beat AJ twice.

Update. Somehow Wilder was elevated to #1 in the WBA's rankings. Not sure what he was ranked before with them, if he even was at all, but I'll check later. Dubois is next up because he's their "regular" champion. Interesting move though by the WBA. Clearly they want to try and force that fight but Usyk would likely fight Wilder voluntarily anyway. Once he's beaten Dubois and Hrgovic to satisfy the WBA & IBF.

Edit. Wilder was previously ranked #3 with the WBA. Bakole was #2 and the #1 spot was vacant. In their latest update Wilder leapfrogged Bakole and took the vacant #1 spot. It'll be interesting to read their explanation for why they made this decision. I imagine Bakole's team will be pretty pissed off.

Wasn't Wilder meant to be fighting Ruiz? I can't keep up with these fights continually falling through.

Wilder was a huge part of him and Fury generating millions and millions of dollars in their fights … a thing Fury was not able to do before Wilder or after him … so in the right match up Wilder can be a big draw in the US… if the Saudi people pay 30 mil to Paul vs fury I don’t see any issues from them to pay big money for Usyk vs Wilder

Why cants we alls just get along...
