Media Usman Offers Diaz a Title Shot

Usman wants any fight that isn't Colby.

He says it's because he doesn't deserve a rematch but Masvidal does? I think Usman would win the rematch but he doesn't want to redo the hardest fight of his career. It's not a good look.
Humping woodley for 5 rounds deserves a title shot? That fight was so boring.luque should be fighting for it

Usman already besmirched Colby, dropped him multiple times, finished him, and had him running out of the arena crying like a woman in shame.

Colby has nothing for Usman.

<JRSmith40>
That was the closest any contender has pushed him. It’s either that or fight a totally washed journeyman.. then again, Usman loves smashing inferior competition to look good. Fight Colby, fight Leon, fight wonderboy. There’s much better opponents there but he’s cherry-picking easy ones with double digit losses like Masvidal and Diaz

Easy payday for Usman, not hard to see why he wants Nate

He's been the guy actively defending while his "Contenders" wait their turn if he wants to detour and make money off of Nate , by all means go for it. It's not like Colby or Leon grabbed the Bull by the Horns , if anything their whining for if Nate vs Usman happens can set up an eliminator between those two, would be funny if Leon gets that shaft all because of 1 minute in a 25 min win.

I wouldn’t mind that tbh, from a business POV it will sell just as much as the Colby rematch if not more because casuals know Nate Diaz. Hardcores would be pissed but still secretly watch it, sign me up.

nate never deserved anything close to a title shot in his whole career

top 10 - 15 at his prime

usman by early KO

also, UFC is a joke
You know he went on a tear at LW to start his career, right? Fought prime Bendo.

Why rematch Jorge and not Colby?
He already beat em, no?
Why pick a fight with a hurt diaz?
HE'S EVEN CALLING OUT CHIESA
WHO ALREADY HAS A FIGHT COMING UP

Explain your logic
I'll wait

Money? Was that hard.
Colby tried his hoe shit of holding out as interim champ and that was fine but Usman does it and people want to complain?

Colby sits out talking not fighting. His 1 win since losing to Usman has aged very poorly. Colby is talking more, Usman is fighting more.
These dudes trying to sit out for a title fight acting like they just deserve it because. The champ shouldn't be the most active one but here we are

Woodley was #6 at WW before the Colby fight. Not #4. Feel free to look that up on any of the websites that record it. You could say he was "#5" if you omit Usman, but he was still the 6th highest ranked fighter in the division regardless.

WW is a mess and there is no clear contender. Plenty of fighters could just as easily justify a title shot right now. The UFC hasn't acknowledged the TS going to the listed "#1 contender" since they made their own rankings, given their rankings are done entirely based on their own inconsistent rating system. There's a reason Ngannou and Whittaker were taking fights still when they were technically the "#1 contender" - this is the UFC and your ranking changes regularly based on a bunch of reasons.

Stop bringing up Dana. Dana also said PPV prices would never be raised. Dana also promised Covington a fight with Woodley when he won the interim belt, only to strip him and make him fight again. Dana changes his mind all the time.

No one is clamoring to see Usman fight anyone because there are no interesting contenders. That's why Colby's even in the picture - he's a loudmouth. If he doesn't get the TS before a more interesting WW pops up, he's fucked. Plain and simple.

Dana has during three separate conferences, during three separate months, said unequivocally Colby will be Kamarus next opponent.

You may not like that, Usman certainly doesn't and as we can see him and his manager throwing his legacy in the trash to avoid the rematch; but according to Dana thats what's next.

Francis sat out for ten months (May 2020-March 2021), just like Colby did, to wait for the title shot Dana publicly said he was next for.

So yes much like Francis he is waiting for the title shot Dana White has publicly says is his; and anyone who blames him for that is a straight up moron.

I am not a fan of Colby and take no pleasure when I hear him speak, but Kamaru has rapidly turned himself from a boring but extremely respectable champion to a sellout that knows he is no longer in adequate physical condition to go five rounds with Colby.

The guy has had knee problems since before he was champion which is why it is a damn shame he is throwing his legacy in the trash just as his reign as WW king is likely about to end.

Colby wasn't winning jack shit. I had every round for Usman even the close ones. The close rounds Usman was the more accurate striker (with damaging blows btw) even though the strikes landed were near even, rounds 3 and 5 Usman outlanded him by a landslide. http://ufcstats.com/fight-details/82177c0f91d9618a

It was never as close as colby fans make it out to be either. Look at the damage, look at the total strikes landed by both fighters. Usman outlanded and outlasted the alleged volume and cardio machine lmao. Compare their faces post fight lmao

Going into the fifth round one judge had it 3-1 Usman, another had it 3-1 Covington, and the third judge had it 2-2 (tied) going into the fifth round; the fight was won by Usman due to the fifth round this is not a disputable point.

Usmans brother told him during the fourth round break that Colbys jaw was broken, because they had broadcasted it during the third round break; if Kamaru doesn't know that going into the fifth round maybe he doesn't spend the first two minutes throwing three strikes? He was losing that round until he cracked Colby on his broken jaw; because he was aiming for it at all costs.

If the standard we're going by is "what have you done for me lately", you won't here dickriding Covington. What has that guy done besides feast on the ghost of an almost 40 year old Tyron Woodley on a 2 fight losing streak?

Colby has done just as much post title fight loss as the average title challenger who loses. There is nothing abnormal about his layoff or his schedule thus far.

This is a common misconception that does not hold up to reality if you look into it yourself.

Also, Dana has said Colby is next for the past three months, we know who is next. There is not some controversy here. This is a thread where Kamarus apologists (who do a very poor job) are defending this extremely embarrassing behavior from him and his management on social media.

First Michael Chiesa, then Belal Muhammed, now Nate Diaz?

Kamaru will fight anyone that is not Colby and it is not what anyone wants to see out of the WW champ; sad to see him throw his legacy in the trash like this.

Covington is not a household name. He has the worst rated UFC card on ESPN.
Guys like Masvidal and Nate Diaz put asses in sit. Covington can't do that.
Maybe if Covington could talk less and fight more, he might be able to get some fans.

Well, Dana has said for three straight months now at three separate press conferences that Colby is next.

This thread is Usman apologists defending the extremely embarrassing behavior coming from Kamaru and his management who appear to be petrified of Colby; likely because Kamarus knees won't hold up for five rounds in a second high pace cardio intensive fight.

Nate > Ultimate Circus.

Make it happen Hunter. War Nate.

Nate wouldn't make it an entire round with Usman. There would be blood gushing out of his eye and guys like you calling for Nate to get another chance instead of just retire; as any real fan of his would want.

Nate looks to be in rough shape, I would not trust him to make it an entire round with Cowboy without it being stopped, let alone the divisional champion.

Let this guy, who is a legend only in your mind, retire while he still has some facial tissue left.

Please make this happen. For the laughs alone, if nothing else

Yeah, fuck all of the WW talent in the UFC, lets just put Kamaru in another PPV fight against a guy who should probably no longer be on the UFC roster, just as an FU to Colby because he has the wrong politics.

How about if Kamaru does not want to face the number one contender, he just vacates the belt, and the two fighters Kamaru has been avoiding like a plague (Colby and Leon) can fight for the belt.

Nate and Kamaru can fight in their retirement fight(s) on a Fight Night Card, Belal will be the Co-Main against Nick, it will be great.

Everyone gets what they deserve.

Call me crazy but Nate would last 5 rounds like the tough sob warrior he is. Can’t say the same about Colby, who probably gets his jaw broken again and finished. Also, it’s concerning that he has had pretty low activity and the only guy he fought after losing to Usman is a completely shot Woodley. Not looking good for Colby imo.

All that said, Colby vs Usman is the fight to make. Colby is the second best welter as of now, guaranteed.

You are crazy if you believe Nate would last a single round with Kamaru. Nate would have blood gushing out of his facial tissue (as usual) and the fight would be stopped.

Colby has had the exact same activity as nearly every losing title challenger over the past two years. Colby has been plenty active.

Ironically, the guys like Wonderboy and Leon who call Colby inactive are the ones who have actually been inactive.

I am going to call bullshit though on Kamaru being an active champion since Dana White publicly said after his UFC 261 victory that Colby was next and it appears Usman is willing to hold out until they literally force him to defend it against Colby which may carry over in 2022.

It's called a smart business decision. Would you rather fight for 300K or 1 million.
Dude, Usman is not scared of Covington. The dude is a piece of shit and Usman loathes him.
If they fight again, I have Usman by a 3rd round TKO.
I was very confident before the first fight. I'm even more confident now if they fight again.

Usman is absolutely scared of Covington and he is also scared of Leon Edwards.

Kamaru has had knee problems dating back well before he became champion. He knows that his knees will give out in another five round intensive cardio high pace fight.

Which is why he has been calling out Nate Diaz and Michael Chiesa; Kamaru should fight the #1 contender or bow out with some grace because he is ruining his legacy with callouts of a guy in Nate Diaz who has one win in the last five years.

They might make this lol.

My bar went NUTS over Nate rocking Leon, and everyone was convinced that Diaz "won" despite clearly losing the decision.

Casuals don't care much about the sporting aspect of MMA. Just give them an exciting fight on paper with characters they either love or hate.

Sporting-wise: Colby or Leon are next. I'd make Usman vs Leon 2, while Colby fights the winner of Burns-Wonderboy for the TS after that.

Money-wise: Usman vs Diaz all the way lol

You don't have to worry, they aren't making it, we have known since the day Kamaru defeated Jorge Masvidal for a second time that Covington would be Usmans next opponent. Dana said so at the post fight press conference.

Which he stated again at the UFC 262 post fight press conference in May and the UFC 263 post fight press conference in June; Covington will be Kamarus next opponent whenever he is ready.

This is Kamaru and his management embarrassing themselves and throwing his legacy in the trash and it has been going on for several weeks.

First it was Michael Chiesa who Ali said Usman would fight in June if the UFC wanted; which they did not.

Then it was Belal.

Then Ali said okay Leon should get it over Colby.

Now they are back onto Nate Diaz.

I am guessing GSP will be their next callout, because it seems their is no callout too absurd or low for Kamaru.

I do believe that Usman knows Colby is a more dangerous fight, but.. like you just said he did beat the guy so he has to be confident that he could do it again, he broke the dudes jaw... that was also however the reason he probably won the fight.. Now looking at it on paper.. Diaz.. is the bigger PPV... it will sell more give him more exposure.. make Usman more money.. of course he wants the damn fight.. same reasons why people want the Jake Paul fight, Am I right?

He is not confident. Usman has serious knee issues and would likely be a shell of himself if he were to even be able to make it another five rounds in a high pace cardio intensive fight.

This is why he has avoided facing Leon Edwards like the plague.

Kamaru very well may give up the belt rather than fight Covington.

I bet the UFC doesn’t hate the idea of Nate (5M followers), over Leon (200K followers), especially in the age of social media fights.

I bet they do not considering Nate should not be fighting with his facial injuries and a fight with him and Kamaru would last 1-2 rounds before a doctor stopped it just as they did in the Masvidal fight.

Nate is also not a draw in the way many seem to believe. If he were the UFC 263 PPV would not have only sold 500,000 domestically.

UFC 261, headlined by Kamaru with no Nate, sold 700,000 domestically with no Nate Diaz.

He already broke his jaw and won when they fought.
What's he have to do, kill him? All this "needs to beat the same person twice" is silly.
The first matchup wasn't a fluke fight. Usman decisively finished Colby.

Colby is the #1 contender.

Dana White has said Colby Covington will be Kamarus next opponent.

Kamaru gets to choose if he fights, not who he fights.

If he wants to vacate the belt and let the two fighters he has been avoiding like the plague (Covington & Edwards) fight for the vacant belt then he should bow out with some grace and do so immediately instead of continuing to degrade his legacy.

Kamaru gets to choose if he fights, not who he fights.

Dana White has said for three months now Covington is next. The only person who has been whining is Kamaru Usman (the "great champion) who has been calling out Michael Chiesa instead of Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz over Covington.

Usmans legacy is in the trash, whether or not he makes it to a Covington title fight itself is a big question considering his knee problems.

You will just need to find someone else to idolize.

<JRSmith40>
Imagine watching their first fight and saying something this stupid

I hope that is his first fight on the night

what a joke lol

Anyone who thinks Leon deserves it over Nate prefers cuckhold contests to war.

I hope Nate gets it and teaches a business lesson to embarrass the people who come to play hopscotch for 25 mins
most badass white belt post I’ve ever seen lmao. Fans of real fighters are starting to come back. Fuck that point fighting bullshit.

Nate Diaz was right. Usman just offered him a title shot coming off a loss... over the person who beat him. Then he told him "No disrespect, but no". It doesn't make any sense, but neither does this clown world we're living in these days.
The dumbest part about it is Usman KNOWS Nate isn’t getting a title shot without a win so his posturing is just for his own ego. Turning down Leon is a real shame

Is Colby the only non former LW Usman has fought since he won the title?

Edit: yup 4 out of his last6 were 155ers. Thats wild. Diaz would be number 5

you would duck a rematch if you knew that guy gave you your closest fight yet. if he smashed him within a round or 2 and it was easy you might have a point, but it was a close fight, and usman knows it. its easy to see why someone would rather avoid a tricky rematch especially if youre trying to pad out your defence record

Yes, the unmistakable look of a confident contender who just gave the champ closest fight of his career, head held high chest all cocked knowing there's no shame in his performance after being dropped multiple times and was on the verge of a comeback just before the stoppage.

one of the cool things that people on this forum sometimes do is delude themselves into the fantasy that a fighter who won a fight with someone is “avoiding them” or “ducking” the person they already beat. There is never a reason given for this, but they still believe it with all their heart. So adorable!

You seem a bit dim. You say "Usman is "avoiding him(Colby) like the plague", but Usman has already broke his jaw and beat him. Which part of that isn't sinking in for you. On December 14th, 2019, Usman fought and defeated Colby by breaking the man's jaw.

You then call his legacy trash because he hasn't fought Colby again. His legacy already includes not only winning his fight with Colby, he actually broke the man's jaw.

Just admit you're being negative and a hater. You can then start working on developing more positive attributes and virtues right away.
