Media Usman Offers Diaz a Title Shot

Dana has made up his mind, he has been asked at every ppv post fight press conference dating back to when Usman last defended his belt; that Colby will be Kamarus next opponent.

Kamaru is embarrassing himself, everyone knows who is next because we have been told who is next, and he is "calling out" a guy who has won one time in the last five years.

Kamaru is clearly petrified of the reality that he is going to have to beat Colby Covington a second time, otherwise him and his management would not be making daily social media posts calling for him to fight Nate Diaz or Michael Chiesa. I am guessing Robbie Lawler might be next?

I am not a fan of Colby, but that does not mean I am going to pretend the UFC WW champion does not look like he is desperately trying to avoid another fight with Colby at the cost of his legacy.

Dana has changed his mind about a million things a million times over decades. Pretending like Dana is tied to this fight (or any) is laughable. And history backs this up.

Usman isn't doing anything negative for himself except to people who pay way too much attention to social media. Like seriously, why the fuck do you care what he posts? Colby's turned down more fights than Usman in the last 6 months and you're not bringing that up.

Colby has 1 win over Tyrone Woodley since Usman TKO'd him. He's benefitting from a bit of history and frankly, a pretty weak WW division as a whole.

Marty is running away from the American hero.

Kamaru Usman does not decide who he fights next.

He decides if he fights, not who he fights next.

Dana has repeatedly stated Colby is next, it is very clear the UFC has made up their mind, if they had not Dana would not have stated such at every UFC PPV post-fight press conference going back to April.

Kamaru is having difficulty accepting this reality, which is understandable but this is straight up embarrassing. You are deluding yourself if you think he is not ruining his legacy by making these social media posts that not only are not going to change his situation, but make him look scared.
He may have stated that in every UFC PPV post-fight since April but he ended up fighting Masvidal instead. So nothing is set in stone until a contract is signed and it seems like Usman is looking at other options.

Usman wants any fight that isn't Colby.

He says it's because he doesn't deserve a rematch but Masvidal does? I think Usman would win the rematch but he doesn't want to redo the hardest fight of his career. It's not a good look.
I don’t necessarily think Colby has earned a rematch. But he certainly deserves a title shot a hell of a lot more than Masvidal and Nate…

Also when does it ever say in his post that he wants to fight Diaz over Colby? This is a legit ridiculous interpretation of that exchange. He’s just responding, calmly I might add, to Diaz who is being a stupid troll as usual. If he didn’t respond, all you Usman haters would make threads “1-0 Diaz!!! Oooooo”. To interpret this as ducking Colby is quite a leap

In December 2019, Colby lost to Kamaru Usman in the fifth round of their title fight, via TKO.

In September 2020, approximately nine months after his title fight loss, Colby fought the previous champion Tyron Woodley (then #4) and defeated him via TKO.

In February 2021, approximately five months after Colby had last fought, he moved from the #2 ranked WW to the #1 ranked WW following Gilbert Burns defeat at UFC 258.

In April 2021, approximately two months after Colby became the #1 ranked WW, Dana White confirmed at the UFC 258 post fight press conference that Colby would be Kamaru Usmans next opponent.

Tell me during what period in the timeline ^ should Colby have fought, who he "turned down" that he should have fought, and why he should have fought them.

There is nothing abnormal about Colbys activity post title fight loss. Kamaru has been a very active champion, which is why I won't blame him one bit if he chooses not to fight again till 2022 which is what I presume he is going to do.

There is no one clamoring to see him fight Nate Diaz, or Michael Chiesa, or Belal Muhammed; he should stop putting up these social media posts which are embarrassing and fight the opponent the UFC has publicly stated numerous times is next.

Thank you for making this point, everyone hates Colby so they are willing to delude themselves into thinking he is in the wrong, but nearly every fighter on the roster would rather sit out and wait for a guaranteed title shot than to risk it, especially when there have been no particularly interesting fights for him

Neither Nate nor Covington deserve a shot. Covington hasn't fought Wonderboy, Edwards, Burns, Masvidal!!! Make him fight them before he gets a shot.

Woodley was #6 at WW before the Colby fight. Not #4. Feel free to look that up on any of the websites that record it. You could say he was "#5" if you omit Usman, but he was still the 6th highest ranked fighter in the division regardless.

WW is a mess and there is no clear contender. Plenty of fighters could just as easily justify a title shot right now. The UFC hasn't acknowledged the TS going to the listed "#1 contender" since they made their own rankings, given their rankings are done entirely based on their own inconsistent rating system. There's a reason Ngannou and Whittaker were taking fights still when they were technically the "#1 contender" - this is the UFC and your ranking changes regularly based on a bunch of reasons.

Stop bringing up Dana. Dana also said PPV prices would never be raised. Dana also promised Covington a fight with Woodley when he won the interim belt, only to strip him and make him fight again. Dana changes his mind all the time.

No one is clamoring to see Usman fight anyone because there are no interesting contenders. That's why Colby's even in the picture - he's a loudmouth. If he doesn't get the TS before a more interesting WW pops up, he's fucked. Plain and simple.

Never happened, Colby got smacked up, dropped over and over, finished and ran out the arena crying like a woman.

Keep hanging on to whatever random nonsense you need to feel better tho, but we all saw Colby wilt in the Championship rounds and get finished.

No rematch necessary when you get finished and run out the arena crying like a female.

<JRSmith40>

You didn't watch the same fight I did. Colby clearly won the 4th round and was winning the fifth until he got dropped, so tell me how he wilted in the championship rounds?

Colby and Usman was as close as a fight can get. They are clearly the top two welterweights in the world right now. This rematch needs to happen and the time is now.

From what I recall Colby was winning the 5th till Usman landed the knock downs and was on his way to Split dec. Correct me if I am wrong, I can't remember that well.

Colby wasn't winning jack shit. I had every round for Usman even the close ones. The close rounds Usman was the more accurate striker (with damaging blows btw) even though the strikes landed were near even, rounds 3 and 5 Usman outlanded him by a landslide. http://ufcstats.com/fight-details/82177c0f91d9618a

It was never as close as colby fans make it out to be either. Look at the damage, look at the total strikes landed by both fighters. Usman outlanded and outlasted the alleged volume and cardio machine lmao. Compare their faces post fight lmao

diaz literally just lost last week
and you think that's a better fight?
the logic is strong on this one
If the standard we're going by is "what have you done for me lately", you won't here dickriding Covington. What has that guy done besides feast on the ghost of an almost 40 year old Tyron Woodley on a 2 fight losing streak?
