LnP has essentially been eliminated. It's nowhere near as common as it was 10-15 years ago.

The counter was that people started getting great at using the cage to defend and get up, which now leads us to the WnS problem.

The counter to this will probably be that people get a lot better at dirty boxing and short elbows. That won't make for electrifying action but it will beat the hell out of watching WnS.

Back in the day Randy Couture did it and it was understood that it was the winning position. He would have more offense and takedowns from there though. Now it seems like people are content to spam the clinch and stall.

All the more reason that the UFC should become a mixed striking combat organisation only and ban grappling/wrestling since casuals who pay for PPVs and tickets find grappling/wrestling boring and only want striking in the UFC

The FOTN at UFC 307 was just a striking match only between Alex & Khalil for example

Striking only matches in the UFC excite the casual crowd, when the crowd shows the same excitement for grappling/wrestling matches like they do striking then it might change but all you hear is booing and jeers at live events whenever grappling/wrestling is involved

It's actually incredibly easy though. You just change the rules and its done. For all the tough guy act Dana puts on, the UFC is run by pussies. You don't see other much more popular sports not having the balls to make drastic changes where they see fit. Dana and Hunter and whoever other motherfuckers sucking on the company's tit just use it as an ATM.

I enjoy good wrestling and grappling but sometimes clinching is just for the sake of clinching. Wall and stall is a real thing and I hate it. Definitely shouldn’t be viewed as “control time”.
