US Government Shutdown

Senate requires a supermajority for this one, so it's the dems holding out. It's not a simple majority vote or you could blame the 'pubs, but the senate dems invoked the shutdown to battle for illegals. Simple as that. Filibustered the extension that included CHIP. It's on them. MSM won't spin it that way, but that's the fact.
There are Republicans that wont vote for it.

But it's the GOP who stuck DACA into this conversation, not the Dem's. They leveraged CHIP against immigration to force the Democrats to pick one vs. the other. The Dem's weren't going to address immigration at all until the GOP made it a requirement to fund children's health insurance.

You have to ignore the history to make this hypocrisy on Schumer's part.

What?

Tell me, what is in this extension the Dems don't support

You really can't just admit this is a complete GOP issue. How the hell can't you see that? They own the House, Senate, and White House!!! Some how the Dems are causing the issue???

How the fuck do you people look in the mirror in the morning. Just take some responsibility for your party and man up when they fuck up.

Why will Dems not vote for it? What is in it they don't support?

You mean like Trump and the GOP fucking over "Real Americans" who are affected by the shutdown? So you care about "Real Americans" all of a sudden when before you didn't give a shit because "lul im on contract wit dod and will still get paid lul fuck shut down lukz". Derp!

Again...

GOP majority in Senate and house

GOP potus

GOP made DACA an issue

Trump blamed Obama for last shut down

If you can't understand these things guess I you are retarded. Deal with it, sweetheart

My understand is they need Dem votes, and the Dem rather shutdown the gov for illegals screwing over the citizens. Is that what is going on here? I miss your old AV

Repubs are incapable of negotiating. You need votes? What are you going to give up to get the votes you need Republicans? Apparently nothing

Shut it down!!

Also Trump the great deal maker hahahahaha

They will tell u it's because CHIP. LOL

Republicans bargaining Chip is ridiculous. They let it expire months ago and could’ve brought it to the floor at anytime. They are using it as a hostage now to kick the dreamers out. Democrats should not budge.

Kick the dreamers out. You guys are hilarious.

I hate all this tacking pork on to every bill. It's a big part of the damn problem.

Make a law that every bill must be voted on line by line. No bill should have crap tacked on that has nothing to do with the main substance of the bill. It's bull crap and both parties are to blame for it.

Of course. Because they think it's too liberal
Graham and flake voted no specifically because McConnell won't bring up a vote on daca he promised to do on January. McConnell won't do it because trump is too cowardly to accept any deal even tho he said he would take whatever deal they come up with.

I started watching American news channels a little while back and i couldn't believe some of the antics of the political parties, they act like kids at times. I thought the politicians down here were bad enough but i was wrong.

So a party loses an election, why can't they just support the president, whoever it may be, for 4 yrs for the good of the country? I don't mean on everything, after all they are the opposition, but surely America and it's people are important to these people who always oppose whoever is in power?

The government has been shut down before hasn't it?

I don't understand why a major political party would want this to happen? How can the most important, powerful, country have it's government shut down? Overseas leaders must look on and laugh their heads off.

Does this happen in any other Western country? I may be wrong but i don't recall it happening here in Australia. Our political set-up is quite different so maybe that would be the reason?

reminder we would not be here if trump had accepted the deal he said he would accept last week. Ill take the heat he said.

Lol. Vote on DACA? There is nothing to vote on. No one has produced the bill

This probably would have happened to matter what. Trump has spoken favorably about the prospect of a shut down repeatedly.

Given the fact that the Republicans won control of the Senate a year after the '13 shutdown, he probably thinks that he can blame this on the Democrats.

A bill has been around for 17 years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DREAM_Act

It passed the House but was filibustered by Republicans in 2010.

A modified version passed through the Senate with 68 votes in 2013. However, Boehner and the Republican leadership refused to bring it to the floor for a vote in the House despite the fact that it had enough votes to pass there too.

Republicans have been obstructing real immigration reform for the past two decades.

This whole thing is further proof that they're designed to be an opposition party. Aside from cutting taxes, their only real position position is to oppose whatever the Democrats want.
