I'm proud that the democrats refused to be bullied into submission by the gop. Everyone must remember that the republicans are the ones who let CHIP expire and only now care about it for political gain. That being said, of course this is a nightmare and something that should have been avoided. The excuse that DACA doesn't expire until March doesn't work because trusting the gop is not an option. They stole a supreme court seat from Obama. This is the republicans doing but I think the spin from Trump and the gop will work and ultimately the democrats will have to carry the burden.

McConnell promised Jeff flake last month during the tax bill vote that he would get a vote on daca if he voted for the bill. There has been no vote and McConnell said there won't be one soon.

Senate requires a supermajority for this one, so it's the dems holding out. It's not a simple majority vote or you could blame the 'pubs, but the senate dems invoked the shutdown to battle for illegals. Simple as that. Filibustered the extension that included CHIP.
