US Government Shutdown

What's your analysis here? My feeling is that the effect on November should be tiny or even insignificant.
The Democrats have just handed campaign talking points to the Republicans for the next 6 years:

"The Democrats are willing to put the interests of illegal immigrants over you!"

This is red meat for the base, and it's a convincing enough argument to pull over fence-sitters.

The Democrats also showed weakness to their own base. If Trump is truly the villain that the Democrats have made him out to be, why would the Democrats work with him on anything? In this instance, the Democrats in Congress have shown themselves to either be liars, hypocrites, or both.

I'm sticking with my prediction that the Republicans are going to pick up 3-4 seats in the Senate.

It was a public college so no issues there. I always knew there was something tricky about the entire field of statistics.

There are lies, damn' lies, and then there's statistics.

Was just reading about the backlash Dems are facing from the left over agreeing to fund the government. TBH I can hardly believe they made such a strategic blunder in trying to attach DACA to the CR in the first place. There is no way that ever worked out in their favor. The GOP loves it some govt. shutdown and in this case they could even blame it on the other side. Now the Dems have to sooth the sore bums of a livid base whose dashed hopes they irrationally stoked. SMH

Yeah, this seemed as me as well to be a huge strategic boner. They put the GOP in a win-win situation. Usually, with the Dems being a minority in all areas of government, that wouldn't be the case and this would have reflected poorly on the GOP. But we are not in logical times.

lol... only the dems can be this embarrassingly horrible negotiators..

Schumer has taken his wall funding offer off the table. How long before he caves and puts it back on the table?

Just ask Schumer what he thinks about open borders, mass immigration and refugees welcome for Israel if you want to see the real hypocrisy and true agenda of the man.

That's not a flip-flop, and I cringe every time I see idiots post it.

Distinct legal treatment for non-natural-residents and natural US citizens =/= deporting all noncitizens en masse.

Also, fuck Schumer. He's a douche bag.

Your distinct evasion of using the term "illegal" is noted.

Basically voters on the center - left arent retarded knuckle-draggers and will punish Democrats for playing politics.

Yes, that has been the weakness of the Democratic party for a long time, they should just sit back, grab some popcorn and then pick the pieces once the dumpster fire runs its course.

At this point obstructionism only gives Republicans a chance to blame Democrats for their crappy policies.

As i said in another thread the only fight worth shutting government down, would be an institutional fight about political reform, like an amendment about gerrymandering.
This...Democrats and Republicans have different structures when it comes to voter base.

You know you done fucked up, when even the Liberal Network polls can't even cover your ass.

"Bu-bu-but. why aren't the people blaming Trump? Uh-oh, better tuck dick. That'll fix everything. Now we're stupid AND spineless."

Bravo, Chucky. Well played. LOL.

Pray tell, who decided to remove DACA protections? Who decided to not continue funding CHIP, or the Community Health Center programs? Who continued the Obama and Congressional Republican's practice of not fulfilling the most rudimentary function a government can have, a yearly budget?
