Crime US Crime Data Estimates Show Murder Rate Is At 25 Year High

Please address NYS bail reform.

"Criminal-justice “reform” in New York has turned our courts into a merry-go-round, with violent offenders free to jump off at will.

The latest outrage took place in The Bronx, where 16-year-old Jordon Benjamin allegedly stabbed Amya Hicks in mid-December. Arrested a few days later, he was charged with felony assault and assorted lesser charges. Amya Hicks needed surgery and spent several days in the hospital. Benjamin was less inconvenienced: He only spent a few hours in a holding cell before being released on his recognizance, without having to post bail.

It’s bad enough that an alleged knife-wielding thug who slashes neighborhood women got to gallivant out of jail. But the story becomes downright enraging when we learn that Benjamin was already facing manslaughter charges — and the same judge let him out twice.

On Christmas Eve 2019, young Benjamin and some of his mates allegedly took time out from their holiday festivities to assault Juan Fresnada, a 60-year-old Bronx man. They stomped on him and brained him with a garbage can. Fresnada died, and Benjamin and his crew got away with $1.

What does a years old story have to do with anything?

Here's two incidents from this week directly attributed to the actions of Democrats. Cope harder.

What does this have to do with the incredibly insignificant increase in the data?

We're talking about 10% of a 1 digit number.

This one is so black and white its outrageous. Liberal leadership that is afraid to be tough on crime because "racism" will have high rates of violence. Bail Reform, handcuffing police, prisoner release, de criminalizing many crimes, WTF did people think was going to happen? The Mayors in Chicago, New York, Portland, SF, take a look......
Portland and San Francisco have small black populations. Like less than half the national average. 5.3% in SF and 6.3% in Portland. So...

I'm supposed to get worked up about this chart?

FFS, could you nitwits stop being partisan hacks for five seconds?

The problem with that chart is it's nation wide. It's not like Utah murders are out of control. The city 2 miles to the left of me had year to year shootings up 600%, the capital had homicides up by 800%. Cities led by Democrats are seeing soaring crime rates.

Crime has NEVER been like this here. Daytime shooting on main streets, numerous CHILDREN being shot. This is directly attributed to the decisions made by Democrats over the last couple years.

They will ignore you. The guy in Seattle was arrested over 270 times and never did time. Then he finally murdered someone and drowned himself in a bleach bin.

I think its clear to most people that serious crime is not dealt with nearly as harshly as it should be in our large cities; significant money needs to be put into the system to hire more prosecutors, and ensure significant sentences for any sort of violent crime, at minimum. Bail should be more expensive, and most violent offenders should not be eligible.

Really, in a properly run state, the government would be liable to pay damages for crime to the victims, and this would incentivize proper law enforcement.

“The New York Times is looking to get ahead of next Monday's scheduled release of FBI national crime data, which is expected to show a historic spike in murders largely driven by systematically emboldened black criminals.”

sounds like white supremacy

Yes, yes.

Of course, it's just poverty.

You’re chart doesn’t disprove that poverty pushes murder rate as the US has the highest poverty rate of any of the countries on that list. What’s worse is that it appears you’re making a case that black people commit murder simply because they are black. You really are a terrible human being.

Still lower than the 90s.
Call me when New York City get over 2000 murders like back in the day.

How much did gun sales rise this year?

Rural areas are poorer than cities, yet cities have the majority of crime and a significantly higher crime rate than rural areas.

Personally I think it has to do with the whole gang culture movement. A logical person would think glorifying being in a gang/drug dealing/going to prison/'hustling' may lead to higher increases in crime. Most rappers have to have 'street cred', i.e. be part of a gang, committed murders, etc. In a normal society, these things are universally frowned upon, while in inner city communities they are lauded by too many.

Also the people saying "it was lower than in the 90's" or "its only 6.7 lol" are coping hard. First of all, the increase we've seen in murders is the biggest increase ever. Secondly, murders aren't the only crime, the increase in murders correlate to the increase in robberies, assaults, rapes, vandalization, etc. On top of that, America's murder rate is higher than places that are dirt poor, have an active war in their country, etc.
