Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Two

Gheorge Ignat returned last weekend after nearly a 2 and half year layoff with a 27 second TKO victory.

I heard he got a long prison sentence for some sort of fraud, so bit surprised to see his name. Pleased though, a couple of years ago he was one of the main heavyweight prospects I was keeping an eye on.

For those who don't know him, he's a big heavyweight and is a Eastern European Greco-Roman champion. He moved to 6-0 with the weekend's win.

Alexey Krupnyakov was another heavyweight wrestler I was keeping an eye on a couple of years back who I believe had legal problems too, so you never know, maybe his name will pop up again some time!

That's a surprise. I wonder if Ignat can travel to the US though with his record?

According to Tapology, Afrozilla vs Marrero was cancelled. To be honest I'm just shocked they were able to find him in the first place. Sad the fight fell through though.

Don't know if this had anything to do with the card being cancelled, but Afrozilla was trying to raise money for his fight and didn't quite reach his goal.

MY return to the cage is being hampered by medical expenses for stress test and a brain scan that the commission of Pennsylvania says i need. I do not have the funds to cover this expense! If this is not covered i will not be allowed to fight on oct 12 in Pittsburgh

Awesome job, thanks! Blaydes is the gem in these fights, I'm really high on his potential.

What about the RITC fight? I also made a list for the LHW thread. Significantly less offerings for that division this weekend.

Sopi isn't bad, but seeing his fights I'm not really sold on his potential. We'll see how he looks vs Dewees.

Sucks, wanted to see what Afrozilla looked like after all this time off.

Wasnt expecting much but HW prospects are hard to find.

Dafuq at Sopi fighting Cory Timmerman in his last outing.

Dale Sopi is interesting, lads.
Okay, he's a short, flabby HW but he has a 'Mark Hunt' vibe about him - KO'd Dan Charles in less than a minute (Charles just gave the unbeaten Stuart Austin his first loss in Bellator and his only other loss was to Mighty Mo)>

He may never reach the heights, but he seems a nasty, heavy-handed brawler and as long as he keeps that unbeaten streak going (I can see him finishing Dewees who does not belong at HW), a big promotion could pick him up

Just looked up Curtis Blaydes (1-0). As I mentioned earlier, he has a fight with William Baptiste (2-2) at XFO 53 this weekend. Seems like he also has a fight on November 15th at Sugar Creek Showdown 53 against Brad Faylor (2-1).

Yeah I'm surprised he's keeping that busy, good for him. It will help him gain more experience regardless. His earlier fights he showed he was an amazing wrestler. His submissions and ground game have excelled lately and his striking is becoming a factor, although he gets hit on the feet too much still.

There are a few notables, but overall, crappy week for HW and LHW regional MMA. Next week will be much better. I'll do a list again every week.
