Some little announced fights that are happening in the next few months:

Dan Spohn vs Azunna Anyanwu for the CFFC HW championship on Dec 4th
Cody East vs Freddie Aquitania for the GKO HW championship on Nov 21st

What do you guys think of 'Baby Fedor' Kirill Sidelnikov returning at the RIZIN event? He looked like he had trouble getting comfortable in his first mma stint, I hope he's been training.

I was not impressed by his combat sambo fights last years. He is really slow and needs to lose some weight. He is going to participate in World Combat Sambo Championship on 12-16 Nov, will see his current from.

Paul L I was just wondering where you get your information about fighters? For instance Curtis Blaydes you say "Blaydes earlier fights were showcased by strong ground and pound courtesy of his wrestling base, however more recent fights have shown Blaydes developing his striking at a rapid pace" I know some of his ammy fights are on youtube but I can't find video of any of his professional fights anywhere on the internet. Have you seen footage from these fights or do you get reports from people/elsewhere on the internet?

Videos/footage are a problem in terms of prospects. After events are over, I can usually find some footage of the fight, but it's soon taken down by the promoter, the fighter, or the fighters management. For Curtis' fights...

His first pro fight vs Hood was uploaded after the event, but it's down now. His fight vs Baptiste was the same. I haven't seen his fight vs Faylor, and his fight against Crowder has pieces/highlights posted on his twitter.

A lot of prospects from the US and Canada, I chat with their coaches/trainers, so they send me footage directly. Foreign fighters I'm at the mercy of uploaded video, so I always try and find it right after the event. That's another reason why I don't link to videos in the main post, they get taken down way too often.

Im aware the talent is thin, but honestly... would an organisation which is purely Heavyweights not be ridiculously popular on a local scene..

I am surprised this hasn't been attempted

In amateur news, the end of year California state championships will be held on December 19th. Scott Steele seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, so the new amateur heavyweight title will be contested between 2-0 Chris Lewis and 6-0 Jose Lopez. Lewis comes from a wrestling and football background and definitely has the athletic pedigree on his side.

The cruiserweight title will be contested between 7-0 Amir Lacy and 2-1 Ruben Castanon. Lacy has a highly developed skillset for an amateur heavyweight, and should be the heavy favorite.

Wanted to post the most recent fight of a Michigan fighter who recently won the HW title of Knockout Promotions, one of the better amateur promotions in an unregulated Michigan. Esteban Rodriguez looks like he has some solid power but I think he would drop to LHW if he were to ever go pro. I haven't seen many of his other fights, but he seems pretty quick for his size. Striking can still be a little sloppy at times, but that's expected with most amateurs.

Mike Whitehead returns to MMA after 4 years away from the cage after spending that time in jail for attempted sexual assault. He fights Brian Heden at Dakota FC - Winter Brawl. His major mma promotion days are likely over, but others who have done deplorable things have been able to return so who knows.

Whitehead was a pretty decent fighter. I remember hearing about that sexual assault and being so bummed that he did something like that. I don't watch the sport for the fighters being good people though, I watch it to see a fight. Heden's a decent journeyman HW regional type guy that Whitehead should be able to beat. He's been away for four years though so who knows. I'll try to watch the fight if a video ever shows up.

He looks solid, especially for amateur. But yeah, I can definitely see him hitting 205 in the future.

Josh Copeland defeats DJ Linderman in a close split decision.

Seems like Aliakbari has gotten out of Thailand and made it to Miami. He posted on his instagram a pic of him with Reza Madadi at some restaurant, I assumed he was in Sweden or Madadi had gone to Thailand but then went on Madadi's instagram to see that he was in Miami. Glad he finally got his visa situation sorted out. Training at ATT with Barzini will be huge for him, the only high level MMA coach that speaks his language.

I guess this also means he will have a much easier time finding fights.

That's awesome! He's apparently in that Real FC heavyweight tournament now, so that will give him 3 fights from tournament start to finish.

Tomasz Kowalkowski loses by first round choke to Brendon Groenewald at EFC Africa. It looks like it will be Groenewald vs Asker for the next title shot.

Cool. Can I see the link to that?
