Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Three

That's a great fight, love Copeland, he got a tough two fights in his UFC run, and I thought he should have got a third.

I thought so too especially in such a weak division but I get it, he really didn't look good at all. Magomedov and Rosholt are two of the best prospects in the UFC though so that doesn't really mean he sucks. Linderman is a tough journeyman who's capable of beating a lot of good guys so it'll be an interesting fight.

Copeland shouldn't have been cut I agree, not sure what the UFC are thinking.... Mago and Rosholt aren't slouches, and there's definitely some guys he could have beaten like Hamilton, Omielańczuk and a couple of others. He'll definitely beat Linderman, hopefully earning another shot at the UFC sometime next year.

Agree with what y'all are saying about Copeland getting cut. DJ Linderman is a good journeyman type guy with still a good record, the W should look good on Copelands record.

What do you guys think about Copeland in Bellator? (If UFC is not interested)

Paul L, just read Cabbage is weighing 232lbs! What you think of a Cabbage comeback lol! Maybe he can win a few fights and end up in Bellator?

Uhhh, well... Maybe some fights in King of the Cage to challenge for Tony Lopez's three belts there.

I was recently contacted to set up one of my Hw's to fight Canbage in JD Penns promotion. Ya think his name is big enough to get him a fight with Kimbo?

It will get him some news coverage if he wins anyways, Cabbage is still a name from the early UFC's, so it will probably get some views. And Kimbo will probably only fight past their prime big names like Ken Shamrock, etc... I can't see them putting an up and coming guy in the cage with him, otherwise it will end up like a Seth Petruzelli incident. :P

He could get a Bellator or WSoF shot with a win over Cabbage though I'd imagine. Maybe UFC if it's Dakota.

Make no sense.
UFC should pick up younger HWs like Goltsov, Pavlovich, Blaydes.

Blaydes isnt ready, he needs a few RFA wins before jumping to UFC. WIn that RFA HW title first.

He isn't ready for Werdum, Velasquez, JDS.
But you really think he isn't ready for Walt Harris, Chris de la Rocha?

At this point, from some things I know about Curtis and the fact he's training with Werdum at King's now, I'd put him in the UFC against mid levels guys at this point in time, I think he could have beat Rothwell on short notice if he could land the takedown consistently.

So yeah, while normally I like guys to get more fights, Curtis is beginning to look more and more like something special, much like Cain was.

Arjan Bhullar defeats Blake Nash to improve to 3-0 now. Nash is a fairly good opponent on the Canadian regional scene. Next up for him should be Craig Hudson or Tanner Boser. Kalib Starnes and Tim Hague are also possibilities, but they may be better saved after Arjan gets 5 fights in.

Hopefully Blaydes makes his big promotion debut next year

4-0 not far off from a UFC debut imo. When you consider the fact Cain debut in the UFC 2-0 and Lesnar 1-0 back in 2008. I'm all for new infusion of talent next year, as by then I expect a fair share of retirements within the top 15 with the current HW division becoming very old.

It be nice to see a Carwin/JDS/Cain/Lesnar class 08 equivalent in the future.

I'd match him up against Craig Hudson since that was already scheduled at one time. After that I would say he's definitely due for a step up.

Paul L, where does Rico Verhoeven fit on your prospect list, gotta be up there even tho he only has one fight right? Btw, Does anybody know if Rico plans on having more MMA fights in the future??

I won't be adding him since this was a one off, he isn't serious (yet) about fighting in MMA fights.

If he does move into MMA I'd put him at #6 to start (if we're talking my current list).

I'll be adding Jaideep Signh to my honorables though, since he looks like he's dedicating himself to MMA.

you know who i'd like to see come out of retirement? the gravedigger aka muttonchops chad griggs. maybe reconnect with coker in bellator, after all he is the lashley killer
